Not really, Subs.

They made a deal with Claire and she agreed not to feed the ducks anymore.
But officials say she ignored the deal, which included a No Trespass Order. She was repeatedly fined, but never paid up.

On Tuesday, a court ruled that Butcher had violated a no trespass order and a city ban on feeding wildlife.

So, let's fix that headline for you:
Lynn, Massachusetts police charge eighty-year-old woman for repeatedly trespassing, violating a court order, and failure to pay fines.

But now your outrage looks a little whiny. So let's spice it up a bit:
Lynn, Massachusetts police beat and tase eighty-year-old woman and shoot her dog before arresting her for repeatedly trespassing, violating a court order, and failure to pay fines.

There ya go. Now we can have a good ol' cop hating thread.

Sweet and slightly mentally unbalanced old person 'doing a nice thing' while creating a health hazard.

There's no way to win that one. If you ignore it, you're letting it continue to be a health hazard. If you go after her, you're the big meanies picking on Grandma.

The photo in the Daily Item article shows they aren't real wildlife but rather domestic ducks. (Domestic is a breed, not a state of living; you can have feral domestic ducks.)

The people who go over the line in feeding wildlife, to the detriment of their community and neighbors, are nothing more than manipulative jerks when they try the "oh...god's creatures..." crap.

They are enjoying the fight and eating up the publicity like it was candy.

They. Are. Trolls.

Trolls.

It's all fun and games until THE DUCKS DECIDE TO COME TO HER AID.

They didn't think that one out, did they?!

And rightly so.

Ducks and geese are horrible, evil creatures, and they should not be encouraged to approach people in public parks.

I wonder what would happen if all Fark headlines had to go through a lawyers scrutiny?

When you make food available to animals, their population gets out of control. If only we could do something about humans as well...

Some are cool, and some think they can do any damn thing they want to do because they're old.

When I dealt with the public, I always dreaded the call that started with "I'm Myrtle Johnson, and I'm a senior citizen". You knew the next sentence would probably be an unreasonable demand.

It doesn't appear the cops had anything to do with it. The city attorney filed the complaint and got the judge to approve criminal charges. They'll probably mail her a summons.

One of my husband's best stories from the year he taught preschool was the time on a field trip when he was chased across a park by swans because he was trying to keep them from attacking the children. Swans are nasty, big, mean birds, but geese and ducks can cause plenty of problems on their own. Also, they can generally feed themselves.

This didn't start with some flatfoot seeing the old lady feeding the ducks at Flax or Goldfish ponds and getting their taze on. Every cop that has seen her do this so far has been content to just cruise on by. Even if uppity neighbors call 911 to report her they usually just tell her to move along.

This more like some pissant city attorney got laughed at by some old lady. "G'hed fine me a million dawlahs ya fahkin' retahd" and now he must avenge his own butthurt.

I was born and raised in Lynn and there are plenty of legit reasons to hate on the local swinery there but just like the cop that has to shut down and or fine some kids lemonade stand it comes from bosses. She is technically breaking the law and to willfully ignore her when other citizens have complained is collusion. It's the same as you calling the cops on a loud neighbor's music and the cop says "Fark you I happen to like this song"

Not sure the actual origin, but I was always told it was all the bars and such when it was a roaring city in the '20s. It gained new meaning when the City was becoming more well known for the violence. It's nice to see so many farkers here who know how shiatty my hometown is!

Strip her, dip her in batter, roll her in bread crumbs and stake her spread-eagle to the lawn.

We'll see what she thinks about ducks.

I think this is the whole thing - it's been around for many decades.

Lynn, Lynn the city of sin
You never come out the way you went in

You asked for water, they gave you gin
The girls say no, but always give in

If you're not bad they won't let you in
It's the damndest city I've ever lived in

Lynn, Lynn the city of sin
You never come out the way you went in

Oh hey, that's right where I grew up. There's far more geese than ducks on that side of the pond and they poop everywhere. There's also a couple schools across the street and the school kids need to walk home through the geese mess. My greyhound tried to eat one of the geese there one time.

I live in Lynn so I'm getting a big kick out of these replies. . .

This woman is ridiculous. That is all.

CSB time: I met the reporter's grandmother when we delivered poinsettias to her for my wife's church. She was a spitfire, sharp as a tack and had to have been > 95 at the time. She stuck with me for some reason, helluva lady it seemed.

"The animals in the park do not belong to the city of Lynn - they belong to God," Butcher said.

How about a cop just shoots her right in the chest? If God wants her to live and keep feeding ducks and geese so they can shiat everywhere and make the park into a foul fowl wasteland, He will save her.

Or, better yet, the cops could just shoot all those stupid birds right in front of her.

Technically that happened just over the line in Saugus. Lynn cops, Lynn victim. The foot chase began on the Lynn side of the Gen Edwards bridge but by the time they cornered him between a Crown Vic and the median wall...
