"This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country," Perry said in a statement.

If your faith forces you to hate people for genetic differences, you can really just go fark yourself. I love Christians, I really do.

2011-12-07 12:02:16 PM
Well, to be fair I think to this crop of Republicans, human rights, equality, love, and commitment are all deeply offensive to them.

2011-12-07 12:03:25 PM
Every time a Republican starts talking about the evils of homosexuality I start to wonder just WHY they're obsessed with gay sex.

2011-12-07 12:05:12 PM
And remember, the type of human rights Clinton and Obama were describing where things like gays not being beaten, imprisoned, and/or killed for just being who they are. So, Perry is coming out to say that the US should be just fine if gays are beaten, imprisoned, and/or killed because they are gay. That's where his level of human rights stands. And he calls himself a Christian? Really, Perry, you think Jesus would be down with that?

2011-12-07 12:05:35 PM
Team Perry blast off at the speed of light!

Compassion. The REAL enemy...

Perry's god would be ok with state sponsored torture. Jesus, not so much.

2011-12-07 12:08:10 PM
Remember: Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals.

2011-12-07 12:08:40 PM
"President Obama has again mistaken America's tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles."

So stating that homosexuals shouldn't be beaten, jailed or murdered for their homosexuality is an endorsement of their lifestyle to this cretin?

What an embarrassment this asshole is.

i don't know, because i've heard of an awful lot of religious folks who fool god using the the poophole loophole. technical virgin and all that. it's obviously not disgust with poopdick, because that's a popular thing with them. maybe it's just the idea of two dicks? i wonder what the religious right's take on MMF threesomes is, as long as the guys don't let their knobs touch each other?

Remember everyone, lobbying other countries to get them to stop executing people for being gay is an attack on Christianity. Jesus wants you to kill people.

My gay lifestyle is KILLING me!

All night dance parties with muscled, shirtless men.

Champagne, cocaine, shopping, the gym, Golden Girls reruns...

I can barely find time to recruit at my local elementary school!

Like when that reporter stumped Herman Cain by asking him who would choose a gay "lifestyle".

In Mass, we just put our homosexuals to work, and take their money for marriage licenses. Truly, it is crushing our churches with all those extra bookings and wedding ceremonies, and the state has to cope with increased revenues. If only we had thought this through better, we might not have to face all those married couples adopting white and brown babies, and affluent couples buying homes together, and taking out insurance policies.

History will judge us harshly, I think...

JerseyTim: Don't worry, America.

Rick Perry is tired of kids not being able to celebrate Christmas and he is going to end Obama's war on religion.

I love the lolpublicans.

Wooowwww. There aren't enough dicks in the known universe for Perry to choke on.

2011-12-07 01:53:01 PM
We are all decrying Rick Perry... but the problem is that he is not the only person who is part of the problem.

Gay bashing is the catnip of the GOP base... remember that leaders of the conservative evangelical movement (such as Rick Warren and Scott Lively) have helped shape laws around the world that make homosexuality a crime (a capital crime in Uganda). The very same conservative evangelicals that Republicans pander to build their electoral base.

Rick Perry may have been unfortunate enough in timing to have made the statement that he did, but all of the Republican party is tainted by a habit of encouraging gay bashing and discrimination.

I wonder what it is like to walk around all the time with that much bile in your heart about your fellow Americans and human beings simply based on who they are. At least I guess he is openly running to not represent me and be my president and is clear that he doesn't think that I deserve to be equal in the eyes of my own government.

Thread over, pretty much. At what point did the Repubs turn into a less competent version of Team Rocket?

The same way the government shouldn't fund abortions with taxpayer money because of the idealogical divide on this issue, the government shouldn't be advancing what many would call "the homosexual agenda." I would take Obama/Clinton's concern trolling seriously if they acted this way towards, China, whose human rights violations affect ALL humans, not just gays. How often do the voters have to make themselves clear on these issues? We've written laws. We've even changed state Constitutions to ban gay marriage. We tolerate the lifestyle because Americans strive to be tolerant. Unfortunately, those of us forced to be tolerant find our own rights trampled upon.

On my campus, "gay rights week" is basically treated like a national holiday. Poorly attended events ignored by the majority of the (Christian) student body are covered endlessly by the news and heavily promoted by the administration. I'd love to help organize a "traditional values week" but I would probably get called a bigot.

I am simultaneously relieved and mortified that I was not the only person to jump to Team Rocket.

FTFA: "This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country," Perry said in a statement. President Obama has again mistaken America's tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles."

"This administration's war on traditional American values must stop," Perry said.

Go fark yourself, Perry. It wasn't that long ago that many people felt a black man eating at the same restaurant as a white man was deeply objectionable. Did that make it right? It's pathetic that bigots such as you still exist in the world.

The right to force black people to give them piggy back rides to work! The right to punch their wives in the mouth for speaking out of turn! The right to lynch gays with their own scarves! Does it have to be spelled out for you?

2011-12-07 02:39:51 PM
I'm surprised Rick Perry hasn't said Obama waging war on religion is an unconstitutional breach of executive power that needs to be authorized by Congress.

2011-12-07 02:39:57 PM
"President Obama has again mistaken America's tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles."

Um, no. They are not 'endorsing'. They are saying that we want the tolerance extended in the US to be extended everywhere. If you have a problem with what Clinton and Obama are doing, you have a problem with the toleration of homosexuality, not homosexuality per se. You can still view homosexuality as inferior to heterosexuality for whatever reason, while wanting it to be tolerated.

This is simply Texas Political Culture War Playbook 101. When people are desperate and have their backs against the wall they go with what they know. Perry knows this would play well in Texas.

President Obama has again mistaken America's tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles.

Right, so he's promoting American tolerance abroad. Where's the issue?
