Some of those girls are smarter than one would think- I was in a few classes with a Rams cheerleader while I was at SLU; she was super nice, pretty intelligent, and I enjoyed doing group with her because unlike just about everyone else I worked with, when she did things I disagreed with, I could just tune her out and stare at her. She was one of those girls who was very proud of her trim figure and toned physique.

I don't get it: these women are certifiable bombshells, through and through, and yet they range between looking strange and trashy with nothing positive in between. It makes my brain hurt. It is sorta like the elite version of Hooters waitressing... those outfits also make gorgeous women look far less appealing.

In summary: the outfits are really bad and diminish what would otherwise be perfect.

I agree. To me, these women are knockouts when they're not dressed up for a game. It's all the fake tan, heavy makeup, and outfits that show a lot of skin but not a lot of natural curve. Put a cheerleader in a t-shirt and jeans without makeup, though, and I can't stop staring.

Forgot to agree that the moves are also ridiculously stupid for what they're capable of. Maybe it's to not entirely lose the feel that cheerleaders were always crappy dancers but fact is they're capable of better yet they're being held back deliberately. Everything they do reeks of PR design-by-committee and that's certainly not their fault, but it's ironic that for all their skimpy outfits and objectification they're painfully boring to watch.

I can't quite put my finger on it (I know jack shiat about fashion design, I just know what I like), but most NFL cheerleader outfits look like they were designed by a self-proclaimed marketing expert with an MBA. It delivers everything the focus groups say they want (more skin, etc.) in ways that are so phenomenally boring I honestly want to listen in on the design meetings to know just how farked up they are. It's amazing. I don't think it's possible to show any more skin than an NFL outfit while making a super-hot body less exciting than if she just wore street clothes. I honestly have no idea how they manage it.

I think you have a point. The Titans cheerleaders always look abysmal on TV, but when we have them for PR stuff around the office (I work for a corporation that does a lot of Titans/NFL sponsorship) they're un-farking-believably *hot*
