Someone doesn't want to be governor for long

2011-12-07 11:58:36 AM
How much longer until the recall?

2011-12-07 11:59:57 AM
Well, given that she's a public employee, I would say she lives up to her ideas about public employees. And at least she lives up to her ideals of government being inept by holding an office in government ensuring at least her portion of it is exactly that.

We have a Lieutenant Governor in Massachusetts. His main official role is to preside over meetings of the body that approves judges and call the governor if there is a danger that the vote is going to go against the latest unqualified patronage appointment. When the governor is out of state, he is acting governor. There is an understanding that he doesn't touch anything.

These days the governor and liutenant run as a team and the boss has somebody he can trust not to go wild when he's on his latest vacation economic stimulus via foreign policy mission.

You know, for all that the GOP likes to go after people for talking down to the American public, how is she not a target? That entire thing, her whole demeanor, her attitude, just screamed 'I know better than you, and I'll be nice and explain things for you, since you're not smart enough to figure it out yourself.'

Is that the very definition of elitism?

Where are the GOP finding these creepy looking women? Are they creating them in some sort of Stepford Lab from Proper Republican Women? They all share the same glassy eyed uber soccer mom animatronic features.

They all seem to have way too much white around the iris too. Not sure if it's plastic surgery, or they are just so dumb they spend most of their lives walking around wide-eyed wondering how all these different things can possible EXIST, which is why they cling so hard to their fundamentalism.

I remember during the 08 campaign asking how the mixed-race kid growing up poor in a single parent household could be an elitist while the wealthy son of an admiral who couldn't even remember how many houses he owned was a salt-of-the-earth man of the people. At that time, it was very carefully explained to me how elitism had absolutely nothing to do with who you were, where you came from, what advantages you had, who your father was, or anything else.

It turns out that elitism is strictly a function of character that only conservatives can diagnose, and as it turns out, only liberals can be elitist. The word doesn't actually mean anything, it has no basis in reality, it has no rigorous standard. It's just a generic put-down that can only apply to liberals, no matter what the individual circumstances.

I guess lieutenant Governors don't qualify as public employees anymore since they aren't really working for the public.

Hey, Rebecca, if government employees are lazy drains on society, I know one we can get rid of.

/I mean, really, does Wisconsin really need a Lieutenant Governor?

I think the Republican pigfarkers in Wisconsin should continue to attack the voting base. In fact, I think Republicans across the country should double down on this. It's sure to make people vote for them.

Even my beautiful home state Massachusetts is chuck full of proud pragmatic socialists who admit that state workers are a troubling drain on the system.

Wait, I thought both sides were the same. Wouldn't a Dem-o-rat Guv'ner just try to eliminate the right to collective bargaining, too? Would he? Huh?

Well, maybe not, but I'm sure a Democrat did something, at some point. You know. a thing. A bad thing. Like Democrats do. That proves that both sides are exactly the same and you should vote Republican, just to be on the safe side.

I'm so confused by these politicians screaming "people in my job are useless, why do we even pay these fools" and they seem to care they are the fools in the job... then i realize why did people even elect these fools AND pay their salary when obviously they hate the job....

Citation? It's more not allowing the force of a corrupt governance to set prices in return for votes.

The ad she appeared in also made sure to promote the fact that she drove a minivan... basically every Xanax and Oxy popping soccer-mom in Waukesha County.

It feels like Walker's trying to win a bet on how much he has to do to still get re-elected. Maybe the Bradley's or Koch's put him up to it with the reasoning that he beat a guy who was as boring as wallpaper by four points in a tidal wave year for the Republicans, what does he have to do now to get through the recall.

"Here is how collective bargaining effects your checkbook," she says in the ad. "The government is constantly dipping into your wallet: sales tax, property tax, income tax. Those all go to fund government."

I see she somehow forgot to add "paying off corporate campaign backers with useless tax cuts that produce no jobs" in that list of things the government is constantly dipping into your wallet to pay for.

"Hurr I'm intimidated by people with greater educational attainment or who are smarter than me and even though I have absolutely zero basis to believe this I believe I know better than them even though my only evidence is my gut."

"Common sense" does not equal "correct."

Because you refuse to read. The Democratic Party here has rolled back benefits and pay numerous times in the past year and continue to do so, stating fairly common sense reasons. It's partially poll driven I'm sure, but even with our fairly stable state system we were looking at 20 billion dollar deficits, double dipping, retirement at 55, and a host of issues covered ad nauseum in the Globe, Herald, and among the talking heads. We've pushed back retirement 5 years, pushed back maximum earnings by 2 years, demanded more payments into health care plans, and are continuing to bring these jobs back into reasonable ranges of compensation.

/or did you doubt that local democrats have the balls to do this? There's a reason I end up voting D locally despite my obnoxious libertarian leanings and hatred for single party rule.

That is what makes you an elitist. It isn't that you are any more intelligent than anyone else. It is that you automatically assume you are. It gives you an air of smugness.
