It means what it meant months ago:

That a lot of people died and we all saw destruction of a level that can only be described with words like 'catastrophic' and 'biblical'.

Mad scientists in Los Alamos simulated tsunamis in the 1990s. I read an article citing their work. It said parts of Florida would be protected by diffraction of waves, the opposite of the situation in Japan.

The tsunami so nice that it waved twice?

That photo is just horrifying. What I don't get is how that much water gets lifted that high, and travels that far across the ocean without losing any energy in the process! That boggles my mind.

Ultimately, it's not terribly surprising that 20,000 went missing afterward. If you're not already on high ground when it hits, you haven't got a hope of running away from it.

Considering the scope of the destruction and the horrible, train-wreck live video during the tsunami, combined with the fact that entire towns were wiped off the map, it's surprising that the death toll was only 20,000. I saw a video months ago that a survivor took from inside his car and the only word that came to mind was "miracle".

As I understand, the water isn't that high while it's traveling across the ocean -- if you're on open water, you'll barely notice a ripple. When the shock waves pass the continental shelf, it becomes compressed, and that's what pushes the water that high.

Fukushima: Inside the Exclusion Zone (gallery)

In June, National Geographic sent AP photographer David Guttenfelder into the exclusion zone around the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power station

Nuclear Expert: Tepco is admitting they are very close to China Syndrome at Fukushima, where melted fuel penetrates earth (VIDEO) (new window)

From the comments: The news just keeps getting better. Of course, the MSM in the US won't react until there is some good pyro video since most are too stupid to understand and can't do homework beyond some sex story. Pitiful.

I LOL but why do they care what we in the US understand?

Why should we worry...we're not opposite Fukushima on the globe.

3/11 is my 1st kid's b-day.
4/20 is my 2nd kid's b-day.

without checking i recall a tragedy on 4/20 as well - Maybe the Christchurch quake? The TV & computer were not off long on those days. we were fixated on Chernobyl 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Maybe you're thinking of California's Senate Bill 420, which created our medical marijuana dispensary system, and which imposes statewide guidelines outlining how much medicinal marijuana patients may grow and possess. It is a widely, if unofficially, celebrated holiday on April 20th in this state.

We have a few reasons to celebrate 4/20 - Now we're just guaranteed cake.
