It's like riding a tranny into the closet only to discover that nobody is filming the video and nobody wants to film the video.

He's the garbage I took out 15 years ago.

To be honest, Gingrich is probably the GOP's best choice...
Sure, he's an utter scumbag. But he's intelligent and experienced. That and there aren't going to be any scandals about him popping up that are worse than what we already know about him.

He's not crazy. Which immediately puts him above most of the rest of the GOP candidates. He's got name recognition.

But the issue is, in recent times, the GOP has always tried to run on morality. You can't be the party of morality and then run someone like Gingrich. You lose any and all moral claims (if you actually had them to begin with).

I'm not saying I'd support the f*cker. But he might actually beat Romney out for the nomination. Which would be odd. I don't think he'd beat Obama, though.

Dude.

Run Newt. DOOO EEEET!!!!

The entire Democratic party is rubbing their hands with glee right now.

2011-12-06 11:04:56 PM
Well, considering the cancer that has swept through the Republican party, it's not altogether surprising that a fresh, young political movement would catch his eye.

2011-12-06 11:06:21 PM
Makes sense, he's a douchebag. Of course they love him.

I doubt they're going to run on Morality issues this year and instead will focus on economic and foreign policy issues. No matter who wins, it's going to be tough to beat Obama, but I do think Newt has the best chance at it.

This makes total sense. Newt ushered in the full I GOT MINE Tea Party mentality in 93-94 with his Contract with America.

The GOP has been spiraling towards fascism with a fervor passion ever since.

He wrote a whole essay about why the teabaggers are awesome and right about everything in the Washington Times (don't subscribe, some teabagger left it in the study hall and I was bored). It was all about American exceptionalism and how Obama wasn't a true patriot because he believed that Big Government™ had some role in shaping American history (think ARPANET). He never refuted any of the points, he just said "Nuh-uh!" and then went on about how America is the last bastion of Freedom™ and Liberty™ in the world that's gone socialist.
I'd submit it tomorrow, but they threw it out after I, ahem, wrote some sidenotes in the article. I CAN, however, show the butthurt letter s/he left the next day. I just wrote under it "U MAD?" It started out with "To the loser who keeps writing on the newspapers:" After the colon, someone wrote "Keep it up! :)", but I think it might be a trick, because the email she left looked fake.

/it was a free newspaper donated to the school, it wasn't school property
//but I DID vandalize a copy of hir Ann Coulter rag (again, donated), adding M before Ann and such, replacing "she" with "he"

Did the meanings suddenly change recently? I was implying that Newt likes blowjobs from young women, not women old enough they don't have teeth.

Well, the power chair brigade ARE the only people on the planet that posses both the inherent stupidity, willful ignorance and malignant spiteful evil neccesary to actually believe in Newt(I stick my dick into other people while my wife is dying of cancer) Gingrinch.

Bunch of false-flag fake libertarians, that singlehandedly destroyed the public perception of libertarianism with their neocon funderpmentalist derptitude.

Hint: libertarianism isnt about pro-war, fundamentalist christians being paid by big business to ride their powerchairs around.

2011-12-07 01:58:30 AM
Yeah, and you Fark regulars know that NO Tea-Bagger would call President Obama an "attractive and successful African-American."

2011-12-07 01:58:48 AM
I have this feeling that the support comes not from their liking of positions, which Tea Baggers have long showed themselves ignorant of in all the candidates their field. Nor do I believe they like the man personally, as leaving your cancer stricken wife for your mistress and wracking up an interest free debt at Tiffany's in the tens of thousands like it ain't no thang in a time when they can't afford school clothes for their kids really must bother them.

No, I think their support of Newt, like their and the rest of the Right's support of Cain, Bachmann, and Perry before him this election cycle, is motivated by two things...

A) He's not Romney, or Huntsman for that matter. And since he's not part of some "weird" religion he's more moral. Doesn't have to make sense to us.

B) He pisses off those damn liberals.

And it's the second point that seems to be the real motivator and primary qualification to the Right this time around. Does he piss off the libs? Well, welcome aboard! You can be completely hypocritical in your moral condemnations, be known as an "idea man" when your few actual ideas are reprehensible, ie: poor kids should clean up after the rich ones, fire the janitors, kids of welfare families go to orphanages... but as long as those things royally piss off the left, they MUST be good things.

So this guy, who has been pissing off the liberals (and most sentient beings with a code of ethics) for decades, he is just riding that wave. We'll see how long it lasts, though, since this entire primary farce has been a game of retard musical chairs.

"Contract with America."

If you say it with the emphasis on the second syllable, "tract," it makes more sense related to what a Newt presidency would accomplish.

2011-12-07 02:13:07 AM
I really can't believe we are still talking about this guy after living through the '90's. There should be some sort of filter that if someone lies, and is exposed while campaigning, they have one chance to retract their crap while apologizing to the American people. If they spew non factual garbage a second time, poof! campaign deactivated.

Point of order.

Wow, considering you're completely unbiased opinion, how could one *not* consider your prognostication into Tea Partiers motivations as being 100% accurate? You do realize that his wife wasn't "cancer stricken" at the time of the hospital visit, the tumor was benign and had already been removed, nor did he leave her, she asked for the divorce, but hey, since when did facts matter eh?

Their support for Newt comes from a couple of things, probably the first and foremost being that they look and see Obama, an inexperienced and divisive president and realize that it's not a very winning combination for anyone who would actually like to accomplish something in Washington. They know that Newt has experience and *has* managed to accomplish Conservative solutions to problems while working with a Democrat president, so the idea that he, as President himself could managed to accomplish Conservative solutions while working with a Democratic Senate isn't that much of a stretch.
He has an agile mind and can think on his feet, and is able to cite not only history but past policy with ease when needed and can communicate it all in a very understandable way, giving him an edge over Obama in debates. His baggage is already out there so he is somewhat inoculated from it, and really, the only baggage he's got is the divorces, after all, he was completely exonerated from all of his ethics charges which demonstrated them to be purely political in nature. He resigned early due to the over politicized nature of Washington at the time, though he had planned on resigning anyway because he had made a pledge to a term limit, so he wasn't "thrown out" by his own party, even though many of them may have been dissatisfied with his leadership, blaming the political mess the GOP found themselves after the impeachment on him, even though, at the time the story first broke he was amicably working with Clinton on some major reforms, so that's pretty much a non issue.
He is offering ideas for solutions that are Conservative in nature, and Tea Partiers understand that not every idea is perfect, nor does it ever make it through the legislative process in tact, but can appreciate the good stepping stones he's offering and the motivation towards positive reforms while maintaining a positive and moderate tone.

He doesn't piss off libs, so much as scare the smart ones, because they know he will force Obama to the top of his game come campaign time, the rest just bought into the BS the left has been pushing and aren't so much pissed as just disgusted because they're ignorant of the truth.

They see Newt as someone who can energize voters, while Romney is very tepid and lacks that enthusiasm needed to win a national election.

That's my take on it anyway, much of which is taken from the head of the Iowa Tea Party.

So "morality" is something you use to just try to win elections now? It's nothing Republicans actually believe in. It's just something they use to attack others with as a weapon when it is convenient for them to do so?

Wow, you guys are complete douche bags!!!

You're going to have to find something equivalent to match Newt prosecuting Clinton for getting a BJ while cheating on his wife if you're going to play the equivalence game with Obama. That's going to be hard, because nothing the President has done has come close to that level of cognitive dissonance.

There's a reason the 57 states joke is still one of the better ones after three years: he isn't a laughingstock of the entire world.

CanisNoir: You do realize that his wife wasn't "cancer stricken" at the time of the hospital visit, the tumor was benign and had already been removed, nor did he leave her, she asked for the divorce, but hey, since when did facts matter eh?

Battley said in the 1985 interview that her husband's desire for a divorce came as "a complete surprise" to her, but Gingrich was quoted in the same story as saying the two had talked about divorce "off and on since 1969."

Before you start ragging on people about "facts", you might want to make sure that the facts are actually known. Like most things in politics, the answer to "Who asked for the divorce?" appears to depend on who you ask.

No kidding. The liberal media is full of it if they think they are fooling anyone.

Romney swore he would repeal Obamacare.. tea partiers aren't going to go with Newt who wants to replace it with another plan. Not to mention Newt still buys the whole "global warming" nonsense the libs love so dearly.

The media is so desperate for Newt to be the GOP nom it's ridiculous.

You can't possibly exist. According to my derptastic Tea Partier step-brother, everyone who voted for Obama thinks he's the Messiah and can do no wrong. When I point out to him that not only did I vote for Obama, so did most of his biological siblings AND his father and step-mother, he grumbles 'don't remind me' under his breath and then starts telling me about the FEMA death camps.
