Meh. I consider myself a liberal democrat, but the only shows on that list I watch are Stewart/Colbert.
I actually watch more on the republican side (NCIS/NCIS LA, sometimes Hawaii Five-0, and Castle).

2011-12-06 07:12:58 PM
Actually, Republicans watch TV like this:

dtdstudios.com

2011-12-06 07:21:02 PM
Uncool story bro, but this conservative watches TV like this:

Monday Night Football......Seahawks vs. Lambs on 12/12...get some.
Parks & Rec
South Park
Workaholics
The Life and Times of Tim....season 3 starts this month.
Boardwalk Empire.....holy shiat did you watch last Sunday's episode?
Dexter
The Walking Dead.....the season finale was MEGA SAD.

If I'm on vacation or taking a sick day:

Around the Horn
Pardon the Interruption

/Damn it I need to stop procrastinating and get a DVR.

2011-12-06 07:25:35 PM
Wow, conservatives watch TERRIBLE television.

2011-12-06 07:27:30 PM
Lefties want comedy, right wingers like work

When Right Wingers work it's comedy for the left.

2011-12-06 07:29:02 PM
DamnYankees: Wow, conservatives watch TERRIBLE television.

They do what they're told more often, so it stands to reason that the more you hype something, the more of them will partake of it. It does have to be obvious, "do/buy/enjoy this" suggestion, though, with none of that snooty fake irony the libs supposedly love so much.

2011-12-06 07:31:31 PM
CONSERVATIVE-REPUBLICAN FAVORITES:
- Swamp Loggers (Discovery) and Top Shot (History): Gritty documentary-style work-related reality shows on cable index really strongly with conservative Republicans. Swamp Loggers is particularly polarizing.
- The Bachelor (ABC): They also tend to gravitate toward broadcast reality competition shows.
- Castle (ABC): Ranks fairly high among Dems, too.
- Mythbusters (Discovery)
- Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Swamp People (History): If you're a Republican candidate looking to raise money, put ads on History.
- The Middle (ABC): Does well among libs, too.
- The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (NBC): "Did you hear about this? Yeah, this is true: Jay Leno is the late-night choice among conservatives... "
- The Biggest Loser (NBC)
- Hawaii Five-O, NCIS, The Mentalist (CBS): Popular crime dramas - except the left-wing Law & Order franchise - tend to draw a conservative crowd.

Also: Dancing With the Stars results show (ABC), Man vs. Wild (Discovery), Auction Kings (Discovery), Wheel of Fortune (syndi), Top Gear (BBC America).

Sounds about right. I'll watch Mythbusters and Man V Wild sometimes but none of the others.

Surprised the righties like Mythbusters, what with it being all science-y and stuff.

kronicfelds watch TV like thiiiis:

Dexter
The Walking Dead
Tosh.0
Workaholics
Modern Family
American Horror Story
Happy Endings (SHUT UP)
Community
Parks & Rec
30 Rock
Archer
The League
Sunny (except this year)
Jeopardy
Game of Thrones
Bored to Death
How I Met Your Mother

2011-12-06 07:48:04 PM
I watch Netflix episodes of Mythbusters and No Reservation (i.e. nothing current). And Amazon Instant Video episodes of the first 3 seasons of Castle.

I have dull television habits.

2011-12-06 07:51:24 PM
Weeds
Homeland
The Walking Dead
Beavis and Butt-Head
Parks and Recreation
Community
Modern Family
Supernatural
An Idiot Abroad
Life's Too Short
Weeds
American Horror Story
Psych
Archer
Tosh.0
Ghost Hunters
Fringe
Always Sunny
30 Rock
Game of Thrones
Justified

But I usually watch nothing or very little during the week and then catch up through On Demand or downloading so I can see chunks of a show all at once on weekends. Some entire seasons I will not watch until summer.

2011-12-06 07:57:38 PM
Saw some terrible shows on both sides there. Shows that righties gravitate toward are those which cater to the lowest common denominator; shows lefties watch are those which require a little more knowledge and insight of the human condition.

So vote comedy.

2011-12-06 07:57:46 PM
Which side would be more likely to watch Breaking Bad?

I'm thinking Dems

2011-12-06 07:58:29 PM
This list is fake. There's not a single Fox News show on the list of conservative TV shows.

2011-12-06 07:59:33 PM
Wait, Republicans like Larry the Cable Guy and Democrats don't?

This shocks me.

I like a couple on the conservative list, but, man they like some straightforward, unambiguous, unimaginative, saccharin shiat on the whole.

2011-12-06 08:01:04 PM
ultraholland: Saw some terrible shows on both sides there.

Really? The only show on the liberal list I would actually call "terrible" is Glee. Everything else is either good, or once was good.

2011-12-06 08:02:24 PM
The Onion is prophetic: Which side would be more likely to watch Breaking Bad?

I'm thinking Dems

Definitely Dems, given the "antihero" status of Walter and Jesse. conservatives would hate it for the same reason (according to the article) that they hate Weeds and Dexter.

OMFG!! I'm supposed to actually care what happens to drug dealers??

2011-12-06 08:05:50 PM
The Daily Show
The Colbert Report
BBC's Sherlock
Glee
House
Supernatural
Fringe
Doctor Who
Torchwood
QI
Downton Abbey
Dexter
Treme
Breaking Bad
Spartacus

I'm a left leaning liberal commie.

2011-12-06 08:06:14 PM
Mythbusters is.. surprising.

2011-12-06 08:06:58 PM
Also, I wonder what it means if I watch a lot of CSPAN?

2011-12-06 08:07:39 PM
I am shocked and stunned at myself for leaving off Doctor Who and Torchwood.

2011-12-06 08:08:08 PM
DamnYankees: Really? The only show on the liberal list I would actually call "terrible" is Glee. Everything else is either good, or once was good.

"The View" and "Project Runway" jumped out.

also, from the lib's least favorite list: "COPS"

what? that show rules. It's mindless but I love it.

2011-12-06 08:10:13 PM
kronicfeld: Archer
The League
Sunny

Ditto.

I'm just glad The League has been great this season....especially since it did not have a good start.

/Seth Rogen sucked as Dirty Randy.

2011-12-06 08:13:23 PM
Lionel Mandrake: Definitely Dems, given the "antihero" status of Walter and Jesse. conservatives would hate it for the same reason (according to the article) that they hate Weeds and Dexter.

Republicans should LOVE Dexter.

2011-12-06 08:15:20 PM
I farking love me some NCIS.

2011-12-06 08:15:48 PM
Lionel Mandrake: OMFG!! I'm supposed to actually care what happens to drug dealers??

I'll confess that I tried getting into "Weeds", but I just couldn't.....I hate every character on that show.

2011-12-06 08:16:49 PM
The_Sponge: I hate every character on that show.

Uncle Andy is my role model.

2011-12-06 08:18:22 PM
I'm busy indoctrinating my kids so I mostly watch The Muppets.

2011-12-06 08:25:42 PM
I just realized there are two pages to that article. I like and hate things from both sides.

2011-12-06 08:33:45 PM
yogaFLAME: Mythbusters is.. surprising.

Seriously. Liberals love mythbusters, don't we? I've never heard any liberal I know say anything but good things.

Also, Dirty Jobs on the list of shows liberals don't like? Really? I love it, how can you not like Mike Rowe?

I was really into that show for a while, but eventually lost interest. I think it's just one of those shows that should only go for three seasons or so. Just MHO.

But, yeah, there's not a lot of sympathetic characters there, but there is/was some clever/funny-ass dialogue, at least early on.

2011-12-06 08:38:03 PM
Psych
Burn Notice
Breaking Bad
Archer
Justified
The Walking Dead
Beavis and Butt-head
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Leverage

DamnYankees:
Wow, conservatives watch TERRIBLE television.

The appearance of Larry the Cable Guy: The Series doesn't really help matters there, no.

violentsalvation: I just realized there are two pages to that article. I like and hate things from both sides.

Likewise.

2011-12-06 08:40:03 PM
AdolfOliverPanties: Surprised the righties like Mythbusters, what with it being all science-y and stuff.

When's the last time you watched an episode of Mythbusters where something didn't explode? Republicans like science the same way my 6-year-old does- "science" is what makes things go kaBOOM! If the Mythbusters could explain global warming with a couple of explosions, the GOP base would suddenly agree that climate change was real.

And I agree that Republicans should LOVE Dexter, and that, on the whole, conservatives watch some crap.

2011-12-06 08:43:41 PM
Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: Psych

Two more I left off my list.

/Feeling out of it today.

DamnYankees: Seriously. Liberals love mythbusters, don't we? I've never heard any liberal I know say anything but good things.

*slowly raises hand*

haven't watched it in a while but I recall their format sliding toward the dumber end of the spectrum, especially with the introduction explosions into EVERY FARK EXPERIMENT.

You might ask, "What the hell is wrong with explosions?" Nothing, really, but there's something about its pervasiveness on MB which irks me.

And Dirty Jobs just got old.

2011-12-06 08:45:59 PM
GAT_00: I farking love me some NCIS.

Darn right! (Figured i'd agree with you to essplode some heads)

Also love me some Castle, John Stewart, Psych, Homeland, Hell on Wheels, Justified, Misfits, Once Upon a Time, Fringe, Supernatural, Burn Notice, and Leverage.

/Did you eat my dang sammich?!?!

That's what I was thinking. After all, the one law enforcement official that the show follows the most (Hank Schrader) is repeatedly made to look like an asshole.

2011-12-06 08:47:44 PM
oh yeah I forgot about

Justified
TDS and
Colbert.

2011-12-06 08:48:52 PM
Well, this libtard loves 30 Rock, so that's no shocker. I obviously also love Daily Show and Colbert, and giggle endlessly at Conan. I also adore David Simon's work (Treme) and The Walking Dead. But I watch Castle and while it's not on there, I could see conservatives liking Justified, and I LURVE that show. Other than that, I don't watch any of the shows on either the Democrats or the Republicans list.

I do love RuPaul's Drag Race. I wonder if that's loved by Republicans. ;)

2011-12-06 08:49:30 PM
also forgot about
Fringe
Once Upon a Time
and my BBC stuff

Doctor Who
Misfits
Sherlock Holmes

2011-12-06 08:51:27 PM
SilentStrider: NCIS

GAT_00: I farking love me some NCIS.

If a marathon's on, I'll plunk myself down, sure.

DamnYankees: You don't watch Parks and Rec? What the crap is wrong with you?

Heh, just escaped my radar, I guess.

I'll give it a spin on your recommendation - thanks!

The_Sponge: Two more I left off my list.

USA *does* put out great programming. I watched the hell out of Monk while it was still making the rounds. White Collar ain't too shabby, either.

Necessary Roughness is okay, but I'm not a fan of Covert Affairs or In Plain Sight.

I'll give Common Law a try when it debuts.

2011-12-06 08:54:40 PM
Gonz: And I agree that Republicans should LOVE Dexter,

Why is that? I mean I dig a good anti-hero as much as the next guy, but I did, honestly have trouble empathizing with the main character in that one. I just couldn't have sympathy for a serial killer, even if he was kind of a vigilante type. I dunno, may have to give it another shot...

I like "In Plain Sight", but I don't watch it that often.

Also:

USA needs to bring back "Commander USA's Groovie Movies".....it's not like they're showing any decent on the weekends:

Is Gilbert Gottfried doing anything particularly time-consuming?

No?

Then bring his ass back for USA *Up* All Night!

That's horseshiat. People aren't that farking simplistic. Are they?

/mostly liberal
//'24' one of my favorite shows ever

Or the, you know, finding out the truth.

Like
NCIS
House
Simpsons

Conan > Craig > Letterman > Leno
UFC, MLB, NFL
CBS evening news + 60 minutes
Frontline

Dislike:

Dog the Bounty Hunter
exterminator dork
Wheel
CSI's
Cooking crap

Glee
Jon Stewart (he just isn't funny like Colbert)

most those other things like big bang or 30rocks and reality challenge shows.

2011-12-06 09:03:33 PM
Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: If a marathon's on, I'll plunk myself down, sure.

It's actually in my 'hey, X is on tonight' rotation.

CanisNoir: Also love me some Castle, John Stewart, Psych, Homeland, Hell on Wheels, Justified, Misfits, Once Upon a Time, Fringe, Supernatural, Burn Notice, and Leverage.

I haven't ever watched half of those, I can't stand Castle, but you get points for Burn Notice and Psych. You'd probably like Covert Affairs too. Love that show.

DamnYankees: Liberals love mythbusters, don't we?

I don't think the link implies liberals don't, but that it shows up as one of the most common results of 'shows I like' and 'people who call themselves conservative.' Which also suggest Mythbusters is fairly far down the list for libs, which is strange, but oh well.

Gonz: When's the last time you watched an episode of Mythbusters where something didn't explode?

Season 2. It doesn't matter what they do anymore, something will explode, probably for no good reason.

2011-12-06 09:04:16 PM
Mugato: That's horseshiat. People aren't that farking simplistic. Are they?

The Jay Leno watchers are.
