You can stick as many necks on a piece of plywood as you like.

Does it go to 11?

Mr. Lepage: Does it go to 11?

No. It goes to 88.

I see the science nerds have failed to mention it will take a squid to play this monster, not an octopus

F**k it, we're doing 10 necks.

And next they'll make an 8-bladed safety razor.

Seriously, am I missing something here? It doesn't even look like they made one unique central body, but instead just grafted eight guitars together. Now, I'm not a guitarist so it's very possible I could be totally mistaken but this just doesn't actually seem very impressive from either a musical or technical standpoint.

That is the gayest thing I have ever seen.

I'm a (crappy) guitar player and I mostly agree with you. I don't see the big deal of cutting 8 neck slots in a huge slab of wood and attaching necks, pickups and the like. I suppose it has some merit in the "because they could" arena but it's about as impressive as those crazy elongated Hummer limos.

/off to finish working on my banjo

The video really did look like a gangbang flick.

They're just being silly for the sake of being silly. Nobody's trying to make the case that this is the coolest thing ever made under the sun. Like giant snow forts, cars tricked out to look like T.I.E. fighters, and zorro hats for dogs, this is was just a whim set in motion.

Haters gonna hate.

Well, building that thing was a hell of a lot of work just for a 2 minute video of a curiosity.

I haven't heard any of 'em, but Linda Manzer's weird guitars are fun to look at, at least:

Pat Metheny plays one occasionally. YMMV but I'm not too impressed with the sound (new window) but I guess if you've mastered 6 and 12 strings like Pat has, 42 strings is the the next logical challenge (and I suspect you'd need to be a guitarist of his calibre to even produce something that qualifies as music from one of those)

The final product is anything but listenable.

/High pitched, out-of-tune notes make me all stabby and what not.

ya... ummm no.

I'd settle for the double-neck from Martin I played here though... it is in a museum now I think, with a long beard hair in it.

That was fun. Harder than I thought it would be to play it. Been years since my SG double-neck.

ok, I guess I will say it.. the bass player on the fretless bass was off note the whole time.. he was fingering where one would NORMALLY finger a note on a fretted bass. however on the fretless bass you need to fniger it where the fret normally is.. .. other than that.. I thought that was pretty cool..

Sounds a lot like Craig's house on a Saturday night.

You don't even have to know exactly who I'm talking about.
