The Bestest: man, for being the auto capital of the world, athletes from Detroit teams sure can't drive

Correction. for being the auto capital of the world, NO ONE in Detroit can drive. I noticed that almost immediately after moving to the area.

I think it's the first thing everyone notices when they move to the area.

If he stomps on a player next season, the circle is complete.

While driving on I-75 by the "Welcome to Detroit" sign, my car was passed on the right at full speed.

Unremarkable, except I was in the right lane at the time.

People around here can drive, we just go really fast and are rude as hell.

I did my x-mas shopping in Ann Arbor yesterday, had to drive about 2 hours in that snow storm. It wasn't bad, really, but some spots were slick, and most people didn't seem to think about it or care about it.

What I'm wondering is..it stopped snowing at like midnight last night. It shouldn't of been that bad by the work day this morning.

Budget cuts, perhaps. No overtime for road crews, that sort of thing.

It's the first thing everyone notices when they move anywhere

I just want to let you know that I'm sharing that tidbit with friends of mine.

I'm in Bowling Green, 20 minutes south of Toledo, and I cringe everytime I have to drive north. Michigan drivers, and Toledo drivers (because Toledo is really a Michigan city) terrify me. I actually have a friend who grew up around Detroit, who complains about Ohio drivers being too slow. He does a minimum of 90 on the highway, and drives at about 50 on sidestreets.

/Toledo aside, Ohio drivers are really nice. From my experience
//I've seen a driver pull the "go the wrong way down a street so I can pull into a store a few doors down from the intersection" trick in Toledo. On two occasions.

But did he call the police and tell them everyone else in the car was uninjured as well?

lacydog: I actually have a friend who grew up around Detroit, who complains about Ohio drivers being too slow. He does a minimum of 90 on the highway, and drives at about 50 on sidestreets.

Here's the thing:

Ohio:

Highway speed limits: 65 (Turnpike:70).
Cops: Lots. Local and State. And they're evil, who will get you for speeding for going 5 under and have been known to stop ENTIRE freeways just to write tickets for EVERYONE on the freeway (either speeding or the one for failing to keep up with the flow of traffic depending on your speed).
Average speed you should be driving: 62.

Michigan:

Highway speed limits: 70.
Cops: Um, what cops (Huzzah for budget cuts). And the two cops in the entire state pretty much ignore you until 80 or so or until you're about 5-10 over the prevailing speed for your lane. (Note: Not valid on sidestreets or 55 MPH zones (except the Lodge where everyone does 80 in a 55)). Besides, they might pick off one or two overly fast guys, but they can't stop everyone.
Average speed you should be driving: 80-85. If you want to go faster (so 95 or so), find someone else who's going that same speed, and stay a half mile behind them, so that they get pulled over instead of you.

/Though if the speed limit is less than ~45 in MI, obey it. Instead of sitting on freeways, local cops sit in school zones and/or on hills.

THIS... and that is the way it should be

Because of his penchant for the check swing whiff, I imagine him backing hesitantly into that pileup.

Guess he is heading back to AAA.
