Wow, that was quick.

A lot quicker than the compensation for Theo.

He still needs to pass a physical before the trade is finalized.

Sandor at the Zoo: Do people still watch ESPN for baseball news?

Those in the know (or who have the channel) generally watch MLBN instead. This isn't just about updates though. Tito will be in the booth for Sunday night games.

Does he know he can't stuff wads of gum in his gullet during broadcasts?

If you watch ESPN for any reason other than to watch a game, you are going to be dumber at the end of the program than you were when you started. If i wanted to see a bunch of retards screaming at each other all day, I've already got my parents.

This. MLBN is sooooooo more enjoyable than ESPN.

Also, Versus (soon to be NBCSN) is far more enjoyable with hockey than ESPN's non-existent coverage.

Francona did fine during that one game he helped call in the playoffs this year(from what I remember, anyways). Although I swear to god I saw him on ESPN after the MNF game talking with people about baseball.

FTFM.

He called the first two games of the ALCS in Tim McCarver's stead. Baseball Tonight's staff is at the Winter Meetings in Dallas, and Tito is with them.

..speaking of, the Marlins have offered Pujols a 10 year, $200M+ deal

NHL on the Fly (for those directv subscribers) is pretty awesome. It's like the red zone channel on ice.

farbekrieg: is this tom hicks sized overspending from the marlins?

Well, the Cardinals offered him $195M/9yr before the season, and he declined.

Finally ESPN hires someone with a connection to the Red Sox.

To be fair, that is the announcer equivalent of pinch-hitting for the pitcher. Almost anyone will look awesome by comparison.

MLB also isn't afraid to credit the viewer with having a brain. I'm also strangely fond of the mini-demos they do on their tiny baseball field. It often takes them 15 seconds to clearly demonstrate something that ESPN would have graphic-ed to death during 2 minutes of yelling, interrupted by 4 'Breaking News' pieces and 5 scrolling bars of text.

Maybe they can fire Schilling and Nomah now, those guys are dead weight. Also, it needs to be repeated: MORE DENNIS ECKERSLEY! That guy is hilarious, coins more words in a year than most humans do in a lifetime.
