I guess it depends on what you start with, but that Jenny Lee chick had more than 100 (of course some of those were correcting earlier surgeries that messed things up).

I don't get the point.

There seemed to be a lot of storing people in refrigerators, cooking body parts and so forth.

Why?

People are not delicious.

Plus, unless you raise them yourself, you have no idea what kind of diseases they have or what kinds of toxins their bodies contain.

I can understand the hatred of Barbie beyond the butthurt about the distorted body image. For me, it was the fact that my brother's GI Joes had all the cool stuff (space capsules, sled dogs, jeeps w/working winches) and my Barbies got inflatable furniture.

Agreed that if your child is messed up because she keeps comparing herself to a doll, there are larger issues to worry about but Barbie still sucks.

This is an interesting point.

I often read stories about the lack of women in math and science and engineering. And, some people look to innate, biological differences to account for the disparity (see Lawrence Summers).

But, I'm inclined to believe that the difference may largely be explained by the fact that -- from a very early age -- girls are steered into stereotypically "girly" activities and toys and interests. And many parents are frightened (with some justification) of social-sexual difference between their kids and other kids.

So, the result is that some traditionalists may argue that Barbies should never come with high tech gear or weapons of mass destruction because such accessories would turn little girls into lesbians -- and, thereby, lead to the extinction of the human race. So, Barbies come with makeup and bras and tampons and apple martinis and "Sex and the City" DVDs.

You know, while I was writing this, I had a point, once upon a time. Not sure what it is anymore.

I don't get it. All I see is a strong female role model taking care of her children.

It's only when I close my eyes that I see the atrocities.

But Salem's Lot was about vampires. This has nothing to do with vampires.
