At St. Pete Times forum last night I paid $12 for a 24 ounce Yuengling

2011-12-06 09:35:17 AM
$5.68 for a beer at the Saddledome?

Bullsh*t. You show me where I can get a beer for $5.68 at the Dome, because last Tuesday I was paying $7.75 for f*cking Budweiser.

2011-12-06 09:37:31 AM
Montreal: $10.40 for a 710ml can of Molson...and you'd better like Molson cuz dat's it.

/I get started in the gas station lot a cross the street.

2011-12-06 09:37:55 AM
Yeah, the ACC price is bullshiat, too.

/refuse to buy beer in arenas and stadiums

For the kids, beer or college? Beer.

2011-12-06 09:38:30 AM
Glass flasks look cool and don't set off metal detectors. Just saying.

2011-12-06 09:38:46 AM
And notice most beer in arenas and stadiums are watery garbage.

I was shocked when BMO Field started carrying Tetley's.

2011-12-06 09:39:43 AM
In all honesty, Jets fans are going to need a lot of cheap beer.

2011-12-06 09:39:46 AM
List fails for having the IZOD center listed.

Izod center used to be Continental Airlines Arena, which used to be Brendan Byrne Arena. but none of that matters because the Devils moved out of there years ago and now reside in the Prudential Center.

2011-12-06 09:39:51 AM
Well subby, Nassau Coliseum is across the street from Hofstra. So all you have to do is go to a game and sneak them in afterwards. Problem solved.

Seriously though, this shouldn't be a surprise. As with any event, it's a captive audience so prices will be higher. The Islanders have seriously improved the beer selection at games over the past few years, so at least there's that for us. If anything, find a driver and drink before. Or if possible, drink and take a train to the game (right, Rangers and Devils fans?).

2011-12-06 09:40:00 AM
What team plays at the IZOD center?

2011-12-06 09:40:11 AM
is this a trick question?

None it's a mistake, should be Prudential center for the Devils

Cost of buying beer at the arena > cost of filling an 8 oz. flask with Scotch before the game

College is (mostly) a rip-off. Go with beer.

At 3.8%, you'd have to drink a lot of those to feel anything!
Not NHL, but Diamondbacks stadium sells Deschutes and Sierra Nevada from the bottle poured into a plastic cup. Well worth the money to drink good beer at a ball game.

2011-12-06 09:42:17 AM
Canadian beer sucks.

2011-12-06 09:42:27 AM
A 16 oz draft beer at the Scottrade Center, where the St. Louis Blues play, is $9.00.

Doesn't matter, had beer and live hockey.

Normal Budweiser is only a $1. I think yours has an extra...service charge included.

Half pint of bourbon in the sock. 60% of the time, it works every time.

Where's Verizon Center? I know the Caps stink on ice right now, but really, they still are in the NHL (I think)...

2011-12-06 09:45:18 AM
Bullshiat. 24 oz of bud for 7.50 at lepsi center on sunday. 8.25 for Dales Pale though, so its not all bad.

I take it that this is the same tetley's which here in the UK is barely above tesco value lager and as so has a large following with those who find work less agreeable than sitting in parks in between methadone sessions? Has tetleys followed stella and fosters into the "rubbish americans and canadians will buy because it's imported" category?

Minor league's Orleans Arena in Las Vegas raised their prices to $6 for a 12 oz. poured from a can. Used to be 16 oz from a tap and was $4.50 last year. Guess my kids are going to college.

Oh wait, I'll need to move out of Vegas first, unless they want to go to Pete's school of pole-dancing, and Caligula's card-dealing college.

Mini bottles of cheap whiskey and a large coke.

Done.

Seriously, at some of those prices it's perfectly ethical to sneak your own alcohol in.

And this. Shooters and soda, ftw. Soda is still four bucks though.

Soda may be $4, but at least you'll catch a decent buzz.

@santatrout

They are clueless. They are still calling it US Airways Arena.

And that is certainly not the price of beer there. a 16oz is $9 from all vendors.

2011-12-06 09:54:00 AM
Missing option: Stay home, watch in on the telly, and have cheap beer and snacks.

santatrout: Where is the Verizon Center (Capitals)?

Google is your friend. (It's downtown.)

It's been so long since any Washington team hasn't sucked that I don't even bother to pay attention now. Certainly not worth the ticket price.

I'm not sure who compiled the list, but as a fan who has been to a number of these arenas, those prices are probably a few years old.

The St Pete Times Forum has raised prices by a dollar every year for the past four years (and they add another $1-2 surcharge during the playoffs). The above comment is correct.

For other sports, take a look at the Fan Cost Index at www.teammarketing.com. For every major stadium, it tracks, for a family of four:

Two adult average price tickets
Two child average price tickets
Four small soft drinks
Two small beers
Four hot dogs
Two programs
Parking
Two adult-size caps

I got kicked out of a Rays game because someone ratted me out for having a flask. I was banned for the rest of the home stand and would be arrested for trespassing if I returned.

This sort of list would be more useful for baseball. Hockey is actually exciting enough that I don't need beer to watch it.

Tallboy of Creemore is $8 or 9 bucks or so at Scotiabank Place. It's a rip, but there are worse rips.

gretzkyscores: College is (mostly) a rip-off. Go with beer.

These days you're probably better off getting into a trade like welding, plumbing, or something like that, and perhaps getting a 2 year degree at the local community college, focused on business, so that when you have enough experience and training, you can start your own plumbing/welding/etc. business with enough knowledge to know what to look out for, at least in theory.

/Make sure you take the accounting classes so you can tell if your bookkeeper is stealing from you.

not only is it Budwiser, but they've managed to make the Budwiser taste even worse than usual..... the magic of the Saddledome

2011-12-06 10:03:32 AM
OK, I didn't say I drank the Tetley's, just that I was surprised. Usually up here MLSE teams have Canadian, Canadian 67, Export, Coors Light, and other shiat. To have something that wasn't urine coloured with fizz was surprising.

It's real to me, dammit ....

Was surprised to see how much they gouged the food prices, $4.50 for a freaking hot dog?
