They're finally realizing that what makes their presence here in this country livable is that the non-rich people supporting them for their businesses continue to thrive.

Cut public health programs? Massive spread of diseases we eradicated in the last 40 years.
Cut education? No more programmers and developers to design their products. No more doctors to take care of them when they're sick. No more lawyers and accountants to keep their asses out of jail.

Not every peon can be a security guard to stop other peons from ripping your guts out.

The world needs ditch diggersnon-rich, non 1% higher functioning intelligent and healthy people to keep the status quo.

A strong middle class is the not the enemy of the wealthy. It's the genesis of it.

Republican response: Well if he wants to make a donation to the IRS he is free to do so. Job killing taxes are prolonging the recession. Something something socialism.

Why is he advocating class warfare? Without the job creators, this country wouldn't be where it is today. The other classes should be grateful that capitalism has given them things like refrigerators and iPhones and E! entertainment.

2011-12-06 08:54:29 AM
Here's a fun project: In all the recent propoganda from the GOP, replace the term "job creators" with "nobility." Notice how little the message actually changes.

2011-12-06 08:54:36 AM
It's almost as if he recognizes the eradication of the middle class might be bad for Wall Street.

Lots of not reading the article going on. The CFO is a she, not a he, and everyone knows that women don't really understand how to deal with money. So we can safely ignore this.

Stupid Morgan Stanley CEO is just jealous of rich, and wants to take more of their money so he can buy a refrigerator with his welfare check.

Why does the article say that he once punched a horse? That's not relevant to the story.

badhatharry: We are spending plenty.

No we are not.

In fiscal year 2007-the most recent year for which data on combined spending by the federal government and by state and local governments are available-total public spending for transportation and water infrastructure was $356 billion, or 2.4% of the nation's economic output as measured by its gross domestic product. Link (new window, .pdf)

India and China spend between 8-10% of their GDP on infrastructure. We need to spend more.

This has nothing to do with the OWS movement. The fact that we've been cutting taxes on the rich for decades and it's just now being recognized is a coincidence. The OWS protestors just want free stuff... amidoinitrite?

2011-12-06 09:17:53 AM
Who are your customers? the hundreds of millions of middle class and poor or the few hundred thousand super rich? The middle class need lower taxes so we can spend and the poor need social services so they can spend. That's how it works best, so deal with it.

I love that the folks who are pointing this out, have their hands deep in the Fed's pocket. They aren't concerned about the deficits, they're concerned about competition at the trough...

She makes a good point. The only problem is, she hasn't donated 100% of her money to the federal government. Until she does that, she's a hypocrite and should be discounted from the conversation.

Although once that happens, she's officially part of the moocher class and her opinion no longer matters, which means we should probably cut taxes for the wealthy again.

It's funny how Republicans show such reverence for Jesus and the Founding Fathers when so few of them seem to have actually read what they said.

The Constitution and the Bible are both like a software licensing agreement: few people actually read the whole thing, much less understand it, before clicking on Agree.
