Look, if a football player makes you reconsider if there is an omniscient sky pervert, you were never convinced there wasn't an omniscient sky pervert and so aren't really an atheist.

From the five minutes worth of Bronco games I've seen, it seems like G_d is making the opposing corners play eight yards off the WRs more than anything.

I'm not Christian, but i really get a kick out of Tebow's devout beliefs. I think its great.

The world is so cynical these days against religion, so its kinda of refreshing to see a guy have success despite the naysayers.

That make sense, most of Tebus throws are way off target.

I think the difference is that he does not have good motion or accuracy but his running ability makes defenders bite and forces a spy in every play. When you take away a defender it helps alot.

I don't care that the Viqueens were a really weak opponent. Tebow still beat them. Look at Indy, they couldn't even beat a red headed stepchild.

Tebow has the Broncos in a position for the team to make the playoffs so who cares how he's winning. He just is.

Tebow is having success not because of his religion but because of his confidence in himself. It is so pervasive that it is infusing the rest of the team with a belief that they can do anything. Compare and contrast that to the Colts who lost that belief when they lost Manning.

So Tebow is a little crazy. Whatever. I don't really have any animosity toward the guy. People can create memes about him, make fun of him, he just goes out and wins games.

Haters are always gonna hate. I always thought he would have the intangibles to make a decent NFL QB, for the same reason I knew Drew Brees would be good. Certain guys just play balls out and play well under pressure. I'm just gonna come out and say it, he'll probably win a Super Bowl.

Also wanna say, I have a feeling Cam Newton is going to be VERY good for Carolina as long as they hold onto him.

Before others biatch at GAT for the "no true scotsman" logical fallacy, think about the meaning of GAT's observation, specifically the part about "if a football player makes you reconsider if there is an omniscient sky pervert...." Sure, blame GAT for committing a logical fallacy, but in order to do that you can't reject the stated fact that a man has claimed that a football player is making him reconsider his lack of faith.

I'm fairly certain he author was being tongue-in-cheek about reconsidering atheism. Of course, I am equally certain GAT didn't RTFA, either.

That's going to happen anyway.

Britney Spear's Speculum: but in order to do that you can't reject the stated fact that a man has claimed that a football player is making him reconsider his lack of faith.

Yeah, that's really the key point here. A guy playing football made him think God exists. Not some miracle. Not a child living when nobody had any hope. An dude playing football.

It's the SEC on CBS, every SEC player is great, and if you're better than the rest, then you're a saint at minimum.

I just want Denver to beat the Patriots. For the lulz of course. Is that too much to ask?

Tim Tebow passer rating: 87.9

Notable QBs below this number:

Ryan Fitzpatrick
Jay Cutler
Matt Ryan
Cam Newton
Philip Rivers
Michael Vick
Joe Flacco
Carson Palmer

If he were eligible for the league's passer rating rankings, he'd be a top 10 PASSING QB now. Just sayin'.

Really? Are you making the argument that his 10 TD to 1 Int will be the norm for him? Or is it very similar to other quarterbacks where is will drift back to the statistical norm given more time.

Matt Ryan 2010 --> 28 TD - 9 INT 62% completion 2011 19 TD - 12 INT 60% completion
Phillip Rivers 2010 --> 30 TD - 13 INT. 66% completion 2011 19 TD - 17 INT 62% completion
Mike Vick 2010 --> 21 TD - 6 INT 62% completion 2011 11 TD - 11 INT 60% completion
Alex Smith 2010 --> 14 TD - 10 INT 60% completion 2011 15 TD - 5 INT 63% completion

Tim Tebow 2011 --> 10 TD - 1 INT 48% completion

See the trend? The other quarterbacks have stellar (probowl level) seasons when they have a favorable TD/INT ratio, and some of the above have declined this year to the average, because of the shift in ratio. They have also dropped slightly in completion ratio, but still hovered around the 60% mark.

Alex Smith, who for years now has been seen as mediocre, is on pace for a stellar (probowl level) season because he has managed to raise the completion ratio to that 63% mark while doing much better with the TD/INT ratio.

So we come to Tim Tebow. His completion rate isn't even 50%, none of the others are less than 60%. His TD/INT ratio is incredibly good considering the lower accuracy. So which corrects moving forward for next year and beyond. If Tebow can maintain the ratio and say raise his completion to 57%, he will gain a huge amount of respect and "believers". However, if his TD/INT ratio drifts back toward the statistical norm while his completion rate does not markedly improve, he'll be in the low end of NFL quarterbacks.

If he beats the Pats I will go to church and credit him for my reintroduction to Christ.

Different personalties handle pressure differently. Take Zach Greinke, who has social anxiety disorder. He thrives in markets like Kansas City and Milwaukee, with minimal media scrutiny. Put him in pressure situations, he could crack. He may not be able to ever perform in a New York or Boston home market. High pressure situations cause these guys anxiety and they lose concentration and form.

Other personalities seem bored and listless unless they are under pressure. They thrive on it - it is almost as if they derive fuel, energy from the pressure. That's why it seems like some guys are just clutch guys.

Perhaps Tebow is just that personality.
