Smart. At least he realizes that he wouldn't be a good father. Unfortunately too many people who shouldn't be parents insist on having kids.

Five children, 23 foster children.

Maybe she provides a good home for them, I don't know, but a fanatic bordering on mental illness having that many kids is concerning.

You know, I tried for a long time to hate on the guy, but I can't. Guy's seen more gash than the medic at a Ginsu factory.

Clooney is currently dating former pro-wrestler Stacy Keibler, but he should probably stop dating 30 something women in their prime childbearing years if he doesn't want kids.

I wonder what he does--threaten to kill them if they get pregnant? Or pay them off, or use four condoms?

If he's smart, he's been snipped.

Actually, no. I haven't. When I was a kid parents raised their children to have personal integrity, and to value it greatly. Yes, even if that means you couldn't afford television or a telephone, or a car, or the latest fashonable clothing. Sometimes it meant being a little hungrier or colder than your neighbors. But it never meant prostituting yourself by doing something that you didn't believe in just for money. Never.

So everyone your age has personal integrity or are you just rambling on like an alzheimers patient in a retirement home? They're Hollywood movies and Hollywood actors. Has there ever been integrity?

Look if it's about doing an acting job in a crappy movie for a check up against not being able to do your job at all I would not begrudge any actor for making the choice to do the job. The odds against being able to get up to the Clooney level now where he can pick whatever he wants is astronomical. Don't forget he was in "Facts of Life" and "Roseanne" before he was in "ER."

Is he? You know that, do you? Interesting. It must be that summer you worked as a telephone receptionist for the Psychic Friends Network, because that is actually true. But do you know how much older he is than me? Is it a significant difference for the purposes of this discussion? Do you know that, Mr. Warwick? Yeah, I didn't think so.

While I only intended to answer the question regarding your errant assumption about peoples' employment history, your comment compels me to address the rest of what you said because it is equally stupid.

Robert DeNiro does whatever movie he thinks will be fun for him to do. He can't be doing it for the money, as he already has more than a person could ever need. Clooney has plenty too btw, which is something that you managed to overlook in your little analysis of his job motivation. Tell me, what exactly is it that leads you to believe that he only took the bad movies for the money? What indicators do you have that convinced you that he didn't take Batman and Robin just because it looked like fun to him to do? See, you don't know his motivations any more than you know how old I am.

Back to the issue at hand however, your original assumption that most everyone here has denigrated themselves by doing jobs which they didn't believe in just for money, the error on your part was to assume that just because you have done something, and just because the people around you may have done the same or similar things, that this means everyone else must be doing it as well. It is called a false generalization, and is one of the most common logical fallacies. The fact is, Chumley, you and all those people you see whoring themselves out for money just so that you can have that 4G iPhone and that $5000 home theater system (or whatever), are the life's blood of corporate greed, and there are many, many people out there in this world who refuse to be used as a sucker like that.

So if it is what makes you happy, slurp away for whatever money you think you want, for all that stuff you think you need. But don't think you are not a whore while you do it, and don't try to justify it by telling yourself that everyone is doing it because that is simply not the truth. Oh, and if you continue spewing out crap that you obviously don't know anything about, I will continue to tell you to STFU.

For the record, DeNiro is less than 10 years older than I am, and I did spend over $25K on my home theater. But I never have done anything that I didn't believe in just for the money, and I know plenty of others (including people who work in the entertainment industry in Hollywood) who have not either.

Never more than 3 foster kids at a time, according to wikipedia. Some of them were girls with eating disorders, and their home was a de facto treatment center, some only stayed a few months. It sounds like she really was doing a good deed.

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go take a shower after defending Bachmann like that.

Congrats on leading a privileged life where you were afforded the opportunity to pick and choose what you wanted to do and when you wanted to do it. Some of us needed to scoop ice cream or wait tables or park cars to pay for school, clothes, or food. This. This SO much. It's funny because I bet these are the same guys who tell the unemployed to get off their lazy asses and get a job. I had to bust my ass in the stockroom of an upper class woman's clothing store (though I am a guy with no sisters and no knowledge of fashion) just to pay the part of college I couldn't cover with student loans, but I guess I've got no integrity because I did something I didn't enjoy in order to better myself in the long run.

To try and tie this back to the point at hand, Clooney's got the money to do whatever he wants now, but shiat blockbusters like Batman and Robin are the reasons why he can pick and choose his projects now.

2011-12-06 09:23:23 AM
Clooney took Batman and Robin because it's a farking Batman movie and he wasn't a movie star then. That movie wasn't his fault. There's no reason why he couldn't have been a good Batman. That movie sucked because of the writers and the director.

Uh-oh, I think Stacy Keibler is hearing tick-tocks because the George Clooney Media Dump looks like it's starting up again.

1. Clooney starts dating someone
2. Pictures here, pictures there, everyone's happy
3. New girlfriend coos about being in love
4. Clooney does interview stating he doesn't want to be married/have kids
5. Girlfriend coos again, a little more subdued this time
6. Clooney does second interview about no marriage/kids, whichever topic he didn't cover the first time
7. Girlfriend does interview in which she admits she wants marriage/kids
8. Clooney dumps her

You're halfway through to being the next ex, Stacy. Good night and good luck.

For the record, DeNiro is less than 10 years older than I am, and I did spend over $25K on my home theater. But I never have done anything that I didn't believe in just for the money, and I know plenty of others (including people who work . in the entertainment industry in Hollywood) who have not either.

Even your unhinged rantings have integrity. Impressive.

Why Would I Read the Article: Balchinian: But I never have done anything that I didn't believe in just for the money, and I know plenty of others (including people who work in the entertainment industry in Hollywood) who have not either.

Congrats on leading a privileged life where you were afforded the opportunity to pick and choose what you wanted to do and when you wanted to do it. Some of us needed to scoop ice cream or wait tables or park cars to pay for school, clothes, or food. I did all three of those things, and still straddled the poverty line while paying for school, rent, food, clothes, and books. But I guess that sort of thing was just "beneath" you, so good for you. A rich kid's gotta have principles, right?

/ Go fark yourself, gramps

Privileged life? Hardly. I lived in a car for two years straight at one point, and off and on right through my first 4 years of college. It didn't feel like priviledge. And I didn't scoop ice cream, but I did work in the freezer at the ice cream factory for awhile. Some nights I slept in the freezer instead of the car because it was warmer.

See, I think you misread what I said. I didn't say that nobody should do certain particular jobs, or that certain jobs are incompatible with integrity. All I said was that people should not do jobs which they personally don't believe in if they want to maintain their own integrity. That is not such an outrageous claim!

What I find particularly sad is that the only thing you folks can come up with to counter that claim is to bring up what you happen to think my own personal life circumstances are/have been. Not only could you not know anything about that, but it can not possibly have any bearing whatsoever on the truth or validity of the claim itself. Attacking the messenger doesn't mean that the message is wrong, or that it goes away. The truth sometimes hurts, it sometimes makes people uncomfortable, beause it sometimes exposes people for what they are.
