In all seriousness a vacuum constriction device can be used to help with erectile dysfunction, which is something that can afflict those with diabetes. Not that I know first hand or anything. Nope, no problems down there. Everything is A-OK.

So we're insolvent largely because of a public health care program that doesn't even cover everything.

Yeah, let's emulate that with a public option for everyone!

You can do it, but I'm not sure WHY you would.

A diabetic male who needs a penis enlargement pump probably has other, ickier problems that would render a bigger dick a moot point at best.

Yeah, but the Dyson has that freaky ball action thing going on that I'm not comfortable with - at least with a non human contraption is doing the ball action thing!

Medicare is insolvent because:

A) 95% of the average person's lifetime medical expenses occur within the last three years of their life. That is, it costs nineteen times more to cover someone's last three years compared to all the years before that put together. Medicare targets the elderly and disabled. So right now, we give the profitable people to private insurance and take the unprofitable ones for government. It's hardly surprising that government isn't turning a profit.

B) The amount an average person pays into Medicare is far lower than what a private insurance would charge. Both employer and employee share of the tax adds up to 2.9% of income. Even considering you pay in for two years for every year you are eligible to use the benefits, that's trivially cheap compared to other health insurance, especially when you consider it covers the most expensive years of your life.

C) Medicare also scales badly. Medicare collects an amount that scales with average income, while medical costs and medical premiums have risen far faster than salaries. In the past ten years, insurance premiums have doubled. Average Medicare taxes paid have gone up by 30%.

Sum Dum Gai: B) The amount an average person pays into Medicare is far lower than what a private insurance would charge. Both employer and employee share of the tax adds up to 2.9% of income. Even considering you pay in for two years for every year you are eligible to use the benefits, that's trivially cheap compared to other health insurance, especially when you consider it covers the most expensive years of your life.

By the way, to give a point of reference, the average employer pays for health insurance at a rate of 8% of the cost of their salaries. Two important points to note:

A) This doesn't count the employee's share at all, nor does it count deductibles or uncovered expenses. This is purely the employer share for health insurance.

B) This 8% is counting all employers, regardless of whether that employer offers health insurance. That is, it's the total of all money paid by every employer in the nation for health insurance divided by the total amount of salaries and wages paid. This does NOT count only employers that actually offer health insurance; there are a lot of 0%s in that average pulling it down.
