Calling him a "star" is maybe a bit of a stretch.

/Don't get me wrong; I liked him when he played, but "star" he was not.

Espn analysts are only good at two things: beating their wives and drinking and driving.

So are you saying that he did not end his career in Dallas?

See, this is why TSN sent Barnaby down to the US and kept Ferraro.

I was in the crowd for Matthew Barnaby's one-and-only hat trick of his whole career. Mother's Day 1998, second round of the playoffs against Montreal.

I had awesome seats seven rows off the ice, but sadly, I was not wearing a hat which I could toss. Since that day, I've made a point to wear a hat to every hockey game I attend.

BTW, this isn't even the first time this year Barnaby's gotten in trouble with the law.

He got arrested earlier this year for violating a protection order by going to his ex-wife's house and threatening her and her boyfriend.

So he's got some issues.

He shows up for the drafts and trade deadline day already. Forget it. And don't even *think* about trying to sneak Mike Milbury back over the border.

This.

First he beats his wife, now this. I actually like Barnaby though.

I have friends who are Islanders fans. Sending him back over the border is far nicer than anything they've said they'd like to do to Milbury.

so you can piss an additional $20 at an already overpriced game celebrating overpaid athletes who behave in a despicable manner?

Out there, there's a world outside of Yonkers, Barnaby. Way out there, beyond this hick town, Barnaby.

Guess I'll use this for the NHL realignment thread...

Here is the four-conference format approved by the NHL board of governors Monday night. Under the realigned format, which still needs to be officially implemented by commissioner Gary Bettman, every team would play every other club in a home-and-home matchup

Conference "A"
Anaheim
Calgary
Colorado
Edmonton
Los Angeles
Phoenix
San Jose
Vancouver

Conference "B"
Chicago
Columbus
Dallas
Detroit
Minnesota
Nashville
St. Louis
Winnipeg

Conference "C"
Boston
Buffalo
Florida
Montreal
Ottawa
Tampa Bay
Toronto

Conference "D"
Carolina
New Jersey
New York Islanders
New York Rangers
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Washington

I just hope they bring back the Smythe, Norris, Adams and Patrick divisions.

Now Buffalo will be in the same division as Miami in two sports.

That's actually a pretty decent looking realignment format. I like it.

Interesting to note that the new alignment easily accommodates potential relocation of Phoenix to Quebec City. Simply move them from Conference A to C.

I wonder if that was a consideration.

I'm not a fan of the top 4 teams in each division getting automatic berths into the playoffs though. I liked the top 8 in points (minus division leaders of course) in each conference. Possibility of a team with less points making it when another with more points plays golf in April. Not to mention first no longer plays eighth and so forth. Whatever, at least Wings won't live in Cali in May again.

Why can't Barry Melrose hit the bottle and go for a drive too?

Except that Quebec City still doesn't have an arena the NHL would approve of. Unless they can build one in 9 months.

Anyway, I still think they should've gone with a setup like that of the MLB. But I'm ok with this.

They can play in the Colisee on a temporary basis until a permanent venue is built. Plenty of other teams have done it in the past.

Adams, Norris, Smythe and Patrick all have post-season awards named after them already.

How about Gretzky (division with LA and EDM), Howe (division with DET), Orr (Division with BOS) and Lemieux (division with PIT)?

You could have tossed Captain Penny in there, too...

They need to swap Carolina and Florida - that way, when the 'Canes move back to Hartford, they can be in the same division as the Broons.

Not so fast, my friend! I remember Barnaby. And Superhost. We got Channel 43 in Youngstown. In fact, I remember the yearly half-hour specials for the upcoming Indians season. They run one on STO, "50 Years at Cleveland Stadium." Come for the early 1980s fashion. Stay for the montages of base stealing set to "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross and of Mike "The Human Rain Delay" Hargrove.
