7/10.

You lost 3 for "beating" - cops give freedom baton-taps, and you certainly don't have to provoke them for one

/They hand them out for free any time someone points out their tiny penises

Tried it, needs some work.

All the maps are going to pay-to-play scheme, so the casual protester is essentially shut out from the game.

The police are OP and never get nerfed because the devs and GMs all own police characters.

Protester characters have all their offensive abilities locked out and may as well be using wet blankets for defense. They also run a constant risk of assault and theft of all their money and possessions.

Cool! I'll play a police officer and dump all my stat points in Dex, screw Charisma. I'll then take Weapon Specializations in Baton and Pepper Spray with Point-Blank and Precise Shot as soon as possible. Can't go wrong.

How long will it be before it gets banned for trying to teach people how to start a revolution to overthrow the government?

Detinwolf Fighting beat cops are 5 man instances. Provoking SWATs are hardmode raids.

Summon latte, drink to regain energy. Cast "Circle of Drumming", best AOE heal in game, but it draws all kinds of aggro. Have the Lock'out drop a Portal o'Potty.

For some reason I thought this would be like when a "bunch" of people gathered in Ironforge just outside the auction house and proceeded to have a sit in to protest chronically laggy servers. The sit in progressed to using as many area of effect spells to make the lag even worse.

I had a ping of 35000 that day in the auction house.

#OccupyIronforge.

I'll play!

Just started a new character on Master difficulty. Uses a greatsword and hide armor only, none of that fancy glass shiat. Named him Conan, of course. Level 14, killed his first dragon, but mages still give him trouble.

/seriously, fark mages.

I did enjoy running around in open mode with a cleaver while whistling the Leave it to Beaver theme song, but yeah, it was mostly boring.

They added a protest sign weapon (the "Conscientious Objector") to Team Fortress 2 recently. You can change the default sign with a custom logo for all sorts of trolling possibilities.

The kill icon is this: wiki.teamfortress.com, which I find mildly amusing.

Detinwolf: Fighting beat cops are 5 man instances. Provoking SWATs are hardmode raids.

They are only challenges for players that are not geared sufficiently. Any pro knows that you have to bring a stack of 99 donuts(at least a 3rd of which should be chocolate glaze) and use them liberally to deal with aggro.

2011-12-05 01:18:38 PM
The people in my protest camp all died of dysentery :(

It seems that nobody rolled heals, everyone rolled spambots and afk/tabbed to Netflix.

Quickly became very repetitive and boring. This Occupy game sounds like state of emergency but trying to keep the peace. How much more plain could it become?.

Actually now that I looked at the screen shots it is worse than I imagined. I thought of it as an mmo with graphics that could compete with other titles out these days and each player controlled a protester in the world. Could conflict in this game be likened to Baldur's Gate in terms of chat with NPCs? You say something to an NPC to piss them off and they attack you. Maybe I shouldn't have said that, restart scenario.

/They should have checked out Unity (new window) or another free 3d engine
//A little bit of interactivity might do it wonders

That game was *terrible* I don't quite know how they did it, but they took the brilliant premise of committing violent mayhem in a crowded shopping mall and completely farked it up. Technically impressive for its time due to the mass numbers of people running around onscreen at once, mind. But still a shiat game.

2011-12-05 08:49:46 PM
Knowing game companies, the 'guillotines, torches, and pitchforks pack' will be pay dlc.

2011-12-06 12:42:16 AM
So the premise of the article is that these games try to, seriously, teach activist strategies?

um... wouldnt the successful strategies of the games be whatever the programmers program to be successful?

And since the key to success in ivery MMO seems to be "donating" money for advantages....

Maybe we dont really want MMO programmers teaching activists how to be successful fighting against unfair advantage.

/dont get me started about MMO economies and inflation.

2011-12-06 04:12:03 AM
Hah, reminds me of during the summer, when CCP released the "Incarna" expansion that was incredibly hyped for Eve Online. It was half-finished, introduced real-money-transactions for in-game stuff, deployed in an incredibly idiotic manner, and CCP just let the shiat hit the fan.

While at the time, the RMT items were vanity, CCP wasn't clear as to whether this would change (ie golden ammo). So the players went into an uproar and "Occupied" the market hubs in this single-shard universe, essentially shutting them down for the first day (the second day, CCP reinforced the hubs and it allowed more activity than the protesters were able to muster).

Went on for a good week, and subscriptions went down and down, until CCP said "We're sorry, we done farkered up".

/cool story bro
