It's a good movie. Avoid it if you want, but you're missing out.

It is a well done movie, good acting, not so high on the melodrama as what is made of it. This Casablanca and Citizen Kane should be on your must see movies.

Because dam it the line is "Play it Sam. You played it for her you can play it for me.", not "Play it again Sam".

I'm trying to figure out the psychology behind the subby linking to the second page of TFA. Was it simple carelessness, like Uncle Billy leaving the bank payment in Mr. Potter's lap, or an action borne of alcohol, like Mr. Gower prescribing one of his customers rat poison?

You probably have no desire to see it so that your first sentence can continue to justify your second one.

I would place it as youthful exuberance like the time Harry Bailey slid his shovel into the pond.

later in life she was able to cash in. Maybe not "big time" but it sounds like it has provided her a steady stream of income and the appreciation/adoration of fans around the country as she goes on appearence tours. She had a rough a go but it sounds like life has smoothed out for her.

IAWL has the only line in cinema history that purt near drives me to tears:

George: Please don't hurt my sore ear again, please don't hurt my sore ear again!

IAWL is actually a very dark movie about a very disturbed, deeply unhappy person. Capra was the David Fincher of his time.

/maybe that's why I like it so much

The most impressive thing for me about 'It's a Wonderful Life' has always been the swimming pool under the gym floor. Always wanted that in my school.

It was filmed at Beverly Hills High School and the pool is still there.

I see IAWL every year in the theater, hosted by ZuZu. She's pretty nice, I talked to her last year.

Great movie but does anyone else get anoyed by the soft lens cut when George comes home to Mary whooting and hollerin', the whole movie is nice and crisply shot and then we get a fuzzy soft focus of Donna Reeds face. It is about the only thing in that movie that feels misplaced.

Pretty much this. I thought I saw someone recent (past few years) articles that she went to reunions or were on Numerically Significant Anniversary retrospectives.

As far as the movie, find the SNL DVD on Christmas Specials on the real ending, with Dana Carvey as George Bailey.

I've seen IAWL at least a dozen times and Casablanca twice, but I will probably never see Citizen Kane. I think the internet ruined me on the movie. I just couldn't take it seriously knowing the entire time Rosebud was his *SPOILERS* sled.

Since it came up... WTF is with the narrated version that NBC runs every year? Why do they do that? It's terrible.

Also, Gloria Grahame.

You should. The sled has nothing to do with who he was or why he said that at the end, really. Other than to show you that he missed his lost childhood.

You knowing what Rosebud means would have no effect on the movie itself. It's not like knowing Bruce Willis is a ghost or Snape kills Dumbledore. It's not going to ruin the film for you.

Honestly? The movie is so well worth it anyway. I knew that going in and still enjoyed it.

I think tomorrow might be my annual It's a Wonderful Life/White Christmas showing while I drink hot chocolate and decorate the tree.

Here's what I don't get. Clarence's whole mission is to show George how bad the world would be without him. He shows him all this stuff, including how the town is now apparently filled entirely with bars and whores, and Mr. Gower's a drunk, etc. He even shows him that his brother died as a child. But he balks at telling him his wife becomes a ... LIBRARIAN! Somehow the horror of learning that without him, Mary will never wear lipstick is deemed just too harsh. wtf.

This movie is a clear example of how copyright has been perverted over the years to stifle science and the arts, instead of promoting their progress. Frank Capra did not renew the copyright on Its A Wonderful Life, and it reverted back to the public domain in 1974. In recent years, NBC noticed that some music in the film is still copyrighted, so they bought the rights to the music, music they did not compose, and used this to lock up the film as their property, robbing us all. Now, only NBC can show it.

In theory, someone could edit out the music, and not infringe on NBC's ill gotten copyrights, but they would be crucified for butchering a masterpiece when very few even notice that NBC has stolen a masterpiece from everyone.
