(Imbibe Magazine)   Angry Birds now has a gummy candy. It's bland, unsatisfying, and there are so many better choices out there. The candy sucks, too   (aggrogate.com) divider line 130

Not really

The developer gets rich when he picks bland, unsatisfying things when there's many more choices. Submitter got his wife.

It's not just angry birds, I have yet to find any truly satisfying mobile game. Not that I've been really looking. I tried out Dungeon Defenders the other day and uninstalled it minutes later when I saw the microtransactions menu. Fark that. I'm not a grindy Zynga drone. I don't expect deep, thought provoking gameplay for 99 cents or so, but I like a good momentary diversion.

Okay, popcap's mobile ports are good, but popcap is king of casual gaming in my book.

It's a halfway decent physics game.

I see these "there's better choices" comments all the time yet no one ever actually posts what they are.

/Degree of difficulty: Angry Birds is free on Android. Your alternative must be free (not a free demo).

It's a reskinned Crush the Castle 2 clone using freely available game engine. The developers are egomaniacs too. Here's one game developer that really doesn't deserve the success it did.

Field Runners
Dropwords
ZDefense

If you want some real hard-core gaming action, nothing--and I mean nothing--beats the hell beast that is Victorian BMX on Adultswim.

You've been warned.

Nice - so it can modify/delete SD card contents/track my location/requires full internet access and can read phone state and identity.

Doesn't sound so free to me.

For those that enjoy the game but don't bother reading about the updates prior to installing them. The latest AB versions require you to allow Rovio access to your phone, tracking your calls and any number you call.

Have since deleted the games.......

Twilight and Spongebob are both more popular than Angry Birds, which is famous at this point mainly for being famous. Lots of people play it, but nobody talks about it outside of discussions about Angry Birds. Honestly, I'm far more likely to hear a Tetris or Pokemon reference/discussion than anything about Angry Birds.

cut the rope is a lot more addictive and even easier to pick up & play than angry birds imo, i own both

You know how I know you can't read? He said it was the new "in" thing; I said it wasn't. It's not "in" if nobody cares about it outside of playing on the train for ten minutes on the way to work. And this is a stupid farking conversation.

This. Ice is slippery, concrete is heavy, wood is brittle, things have to be supported or they fall...etc. It's one of the main reasons I like AB.

We've come such a long way in graphics since the DOS days, but really, the gameplay of something like Scorched Earth is still so, so much more better than AB.
