I'd say only if you weren't expecting to marry a transgender.

Seems like one of those things that should be discussed early in the relationship.

Wasn't there a story of some "saving myself for marriage" guy who didn't find out his wife had a dong until the honeymoon?

I thought Cain owned almost all the pizza companies. Oh, the story had the words sex and pizza in it so he ...must be... oh, it didn't have sex in it. No cheating, either? Trains? I give up.

No one is restricting their free speech. You can say whatever bigoted shiat, but that doesn't protect you from the impact to their business.

If anyone is seriously concerned about their SO being revealed to be a TG, just look for the Adam's Apple, that thing you found so hot about her to begin with.

Unless she's one of those Asian ladyboys, in which case anything goes (new window).

Discussion question -

It is currently socially acceptable to hate (as evidenced by humor) transsexuals. In the 80s it was socially acceptable to hate attractive and successful African Americans in the same way. In order for us to be no longer hated, is it necessary for society to find someone else to hate?

The reality is that transgenders are one of the groups you can still pick on without major blowback. I doubt Hell's Pizza takes a monetary hit over this.

As the story pointed out, the company only backed off of this statement when the ACLU busted into the headquarters and put shotguns to everybody's heads. Radical violent librul activism strikes again. It's getting to where you can't even say, "I like toast" in this country without shotgun-toting ACLU thugs throwing you to the ground.

Probably not. Someone very dear to me is a FtM. Life's already tough enough for him without this kind of dehumanizing nonsense.

Too many hot women of Hebrew descent around, even without getting into IDF chicks.

I personally prefer to base my hatred on something someone chooses, not on what they were born with. Consider what counts as a "hot conservative woman":
kaystreet.files.wordpress.com
And I went with "relatively photogenic" instead of "ideologically relevant" to be fair (that, and if I posted images of Ayn Rand I might have to see her sour mug in the forum).

Really? I mean what with all of the other challenges your friend is going to face a fortune cookie message shouldn't even be on his radar.

Characterizing a stupid promo with sophomoric humor as dehumanizing is a little over the top. I personally don't care what gender someone is was or will be, but I sure as shiat wouldn't want to marry an MtF and I suspect the majority of the population would feel the same way (as has been pointed out earlier in this thread. So in reality it is an accurate message for the majority of their customers.

Don't you wish we could go back to the days where you could belittle, degrade, defame, dehumanize any non-white-male-protestant and that particular group knew their place and didn't complain?

Egoy3k: So in reality it is an accurate message for the majority of their customers.

An accurate message as a misfortune would be "You will discover your wife's penis on your honeymoon." This implies you were not expecting a penis on your wife, just found out about this, and are now officially married, not to mention haven't had sex yet. The message "You will marry a transgender" is rather flat. This implies marrying a transgender person is wrong...and nothing else. Don't think I would marry a transgender person, but I know I wouldn't care if anyone else did. However, I would laugh until I pissed my pants if a friend had a wedding and divorced the next day after discovering she had a penis.

Merely suggesting anything other than the orthodoxy of "celebrate and encourage all the sexualities of the rainbow" is the same as rape and murder?

That would depend on the context of the opinion. The KKK for example has plenty of opinions.

Actually yes. I consider being made fun of very human. Dehumanizing is a term i would reserve for violence or subjugation not a bloody gag from a pizza company. Like I said it's in poor taste but it's not exactly the same thing as, apartheid or slavery.

No. It's bigoted to project irrational fears about an entire group of people. "You will marry a transgender." Is not the same thing as saying "You will marry someone who tricked you into thinking they were one gender but were not." The former has to do with blasting an entire group for no other reason than they're different (bigotry), and the latter with honesty.

That's a good point. The word unwittingly would clarify the whole thing.

If I know that I don't want to marry a TG person and I ended up doing that I would assume it happened without my knowing.

It's bigoted to have opinions that don't match reality based on membership to a group. It's also bigoted to misrepresent reality to present opinions that don't match reality based on membership to a group.

Really? So you don't think your kind of opinion isn't what eventually lead to the rape and murder of a t-person? You don't think your kind opinion had anything to do with the fact that law dragged their feet to let it happen? It's like saying the overt racism in the South had nothing to do with the lynchings conducted by a few. Get real.
