That was great!! I think Tim Burton would be flattered. :D

I like Sarah Palin as "lindsay lohan playing Hermoine in Harry Potter in the SNL Skit" are the end during the pics of the event. need more of her and less of Jack.

/ok, Jack was cool as well.

NicoFinn: I want to be his friend and hang out with him in his shop helping do these kinds of things all day.

He used to practically live in the sculpture department all night and day back in college, so I think he probably spends most of his waking hours now in his shop/studio. I'm in complete awe of his genius with this costume though. He isn't kidding about that respirator either; dude almost died one time when he accidentally inhaled some resin into his lungs.

Yes subby, I have to agree. I was about to say, how could you possibly do a realistic Jack Skellington costume when he's a skeleton? Well, upping the scale works perfectly...

Hive mind.

Right up there with "Sanitation Engineer", I wonder if there could be a new way of saying "Fark reading slacker" that isn't so hurtful.

Wow. Tell him that I am in awe, first for his excellent costume choice, and then for the brilliant execution.

No idea who that is but the costume looks cool.

lol...the submitted video STOMPS on all 3 of those.

No really...even if you just look at the head and hands of the submitted video and it's WAY better.

So is the bow tie now that I look at it.

raggtopp: lol...the submitted video STOMPS on all 3 of those.

Maybe the first two, but the third has a head that doesn't show his goofy face and better hands.
and both 2 and 3 in my list have better bowties.

Guy in the video needed longer stilts or shorter arm extenders. My #2 has better proportions overall.

Why showcase your talents with something so derivative?

Was he not referring to sculpting fiberglass or did I miss something?

My first thought: local Fiber Artist = his mom

SphericalTime: Wow. Tell him that I am in awe, first for his excellent costume choice, and then for the brilliant execution.

I will definitely do that.

T.M.S.: Why showcase your talents with something so derivative?

He does other sculptures and installations professionally. This was just something he put together for fun.

FYI, "fiber artist" doesn't necessarily = seamstress. It just refers to the medium in which they work. My mother is a fiber artist and I also knew plenty of others back in college. Very few of them had any interest in clothes or fashion design. Not all of their fiber material is synthetic either.

You did - he referred to the woman who helped modify the sweatsuit into a pinstripe suit as a Fiber Artist

However, fiber artist is an actual term for people who create fine art using textiles through techniques such as sewing, quilting, weaving, knitting, etc. Sure the picture of her in the video just showed her sewing, but she might do other stuff as well.

A "seamstress" on the other hand quite literally only sews seams in clothing and is a minimally skilled job in a factory.

Well, when they showed her she was operating a sewing machine and the suit was just a 4XL sweatsuit. I didn't see any fiber glass.

padraig: "Fiber artist" ? Is that how they call seamstress now ?

I laughed, but what he's doing here is something a bit passed being a tailor, seamer, or other textile worker. Calling him a "seamstress", beyond the infantile schoolyard gender-role swipe, is like calling an aerospace engineer a pipe-fitter.

I know jack has longer legs then the guy in the video.

You do know they are talking about the actual seamstress, right Heron? You know, the lady in the video doing sewing alterations for the costume maker?

2011-12-05 06:51:43 PM
Pretty cool.

And subby? Make sure you tell him douchebag/hater said so, too.

2011-12-05 08:17:11 PM
Pity he didn't thank Henry Selick, but I guess that's what comes from Burton plastering his name over everything.

Excellent - well done.

Next year hit some houses. The candy haul will be epic.
