Anyone else notice the Segway running upstream through the maze of moving cars and motorbikes?

And not making very good time? Yeah, he was conspicuous. Frankly, I'm amazed at how traffic moving in two different directions can weave itself together like that. I guess the key is to maintain a steady pace.

Yes, predictability counts. If you know the other driver isn't going to slow down or speed up you can plan your path accordingly and these aren't narrow streets either, so there's room to maneuver.

But still I bet they get some horrific accidents every once in a while.

GIS turned up this - don't even know if it's in Vietnam, but whatever.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had to restart a couple times due to someone on a scooter being obliterated by a larger vehicle. There's seemingly hundreds of traffic cam clips on liveleak showing similar intersections to that, only with grisly outcomes. The sheer volume leads me to think it's pretty common.

Having just read Jeremy Clarkson's book Motorworld, I see what he was on about. Interesting to see what's happened in 15 years.

Yet another reminder of why I love living in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, try crossing the street there. No traffic lights anywhere. You have to just walk directly across the river of motorbikes and they will part for you, creating a small pocket of space. Just don't speed up or slow down your walking pace, and most importantly, don't stop or shiat will suddenly get real. Takes some getting used to.

Wow... I am amazed that during the video, I did not see one single crash despite the apparent chaos on the streets. I don't think this would happen here in the US because 1) the vehicles are much larger here than in Vietnam, and 2) lots of f*ck you, me first attitudes on the road.

That and every soccer mom here with a huge SUV is always on the phone and from what I can tell are playing traffic violation bingo every time they leave the house.

On these videos it always seems that the colors are enhanced. Is this due to photoshopping or something? It can't be the true color, can it?

Well, I just sped up my entire day in my head and I can confirm that this was best time lapse I saw today.

Although I did enjoy the lunch I had.
