One of the best memories of high school...

Those Friday's of the games where the cheerleaders all wore their uniforms are priceless.

The school dress code requires that the hems of skirts come down to the girls' fingertips when they hold their arms at their sides

Anyone else think that could be a bonus in some cases?

/hurray for short armed people!

2003-10-08 08:13:01 PM
don't you have to touch someone to grope them? how does looking at a girl mean groping??

2003-10-08 08:13:17 PM
Director Wayne Strausser said he thought the uniforms were conservative compared to what other girls at the high school are wearing.

"When I see some young ladies, I have to turn my head or I might be accused of groping," he said.

Am I alone here, or is this guy saying WAY more than he wants to? I think an investigation into him is overdue.

2003-10-08 08:13:20 PM
Yes, we certainly can't have teens thinking about sex. The world would descend into sheer chaos. And obviously, teens won't think about sex if girls can't wear short skirts.

2003-10-08 08:13:29 PM
Sad. Very sad.

2003-10-08 08:13:33 PM
Please, next, ban football and other stupid school sports programs. The brats go to school to learn, not waste time playing farking games. If they have that much free time, they need more homework.

Force said the squad's adviser had told him that the only acceptable way to cover the girls' legs would be to buy them pants at the cost of $110 to $112 each

Where the hell are they shopping?

2003-10-08 08:14:11 PM
Since when can Gabe and Tycho ban stuff?

"Director Wayne Strausser said he thought the uniforms were conservative compared to what other girls at the high school are wearing.

so someone IS thinking of the children at last

2003-10-08 08:15:37 PM
I'd transfer. fark them

2003-10-08 08:16:03 PM
"When I see some young ladies, I have to turn my head or I might be accused of groping," he said.

So just looking is now considered groping?

2003-10-08 08:17:58 PM
GO YANKEES!

And umm.. young girls are cool?

2003-10-08 08:21:39 PM
Is fark full of pedophiles. They're just children.

2003-10-08 08:23:30 PM
I have to say I agree with the people at the school. They can't have a standard that only some of the people have to follow. Reminds me of highschool when they said boys couldn't wear shorts so a bunch of us wore skirts. And when they banned backpacks a bunch of guys bought huge ass purses.

Fark a Duckk

2003-10-08 08:24:49 PM
Don't they understand? Cheerleaders are special!

2003-10-08 08:27:45 PM
I agree with the school on a technicality. They have a rule about dresses, and cheerleaders shouldn't be exhempt from the rules just because they're cheerleaders.

The rule itself needs to go though. Lighten up...

2003-10-08 08:28:14 PM
Skirts can't come up higher than their fingertips? That doesn't quite cover my package, for God's sake, and it's definitely not because I'm huge. Am I long bodied/short armed, or is that really short to begin with? And their uniforms are shorter than that?

2003-10-08 08:31:14 PM
I hate high school politics.

2003-10-08 08:32:41 PM
I guess sweatpants with the school logo have gone up 10x in price.

2003-10-08 08:33:07 PM
Wow, and to think I tried to start a letter-writing campaign in eighth grade to protest our dress code, which consisted primarily of banning baseball caps and "Coed Naked [Sport]" T-shirts. As far as I'm concerned, a school dress code shouldn't go much further than "no shoes, no shirt, no science class."

2003-10-08 08:33:26 PM
whats wrong with wearing tights underneath the skirts? they're not at a game or in a competition so they don't have to be in a 100% "regulation" uniform... and why the fark are pants $112?

2003-10-08 08:34:06 PM
purple_duckk

A school that bans backpacks. That's a new one.

2003-10-08 08:34:25 PM
...because they are special pants?

2003-10-08 08:35:02 PM
gordon142... it's the same in my school. we can still have them but we can't carry them between classes with us... considering we have 975 kids in a school designed for 750 that's not a bad thing when it comes to hallway congestion.

2003-10-08 08:36:59 PM
As a former cheerleader, I'd like to say that this rule is crap. A real cheerleader, a stunter, needs to be free to move while being tossed 20 feet in the air, and needs not to have long awkward skirts flopping all over the place during gymnastics. My squad got around the rule by wearing flyaway skirts. looks like a normal skirt, but there is no material between the pleats. yay for boys who can't go to the chalkboard in homeroom =D

2003-10-08 08:38:40 PM
nuggetman I think the tights were the cheerleaders attempt at getting around the ban. And cheerleading uniforms are ridiculously expensive, so to buy cheerleading pants would cost that much. Why they can't just buy warm-up pants in the school colors is beyond me.

Even if the school doesn't want to drop the rule, why not just have like a "dress-down" Friday on football game days and let everyone wear short skirts?

2003-10-08 08:39:21 PM
nuggetman: there's also plenty of opportunities for placing illicit materials in other people's bags in that sort of congestion... like say... endangered animal sperm... whatever... i don't know what it is kids shoot up with today...

oh, and put those girls in lead-laden clothing... should be fun to watch them jump with that crap on

2003-10-08 08:40:14 PM
pics?

Why are they 20 feet in the air during Algebra class?

Anne.Uuumellmahaye

Typical cheerleader... unwilling/unable to READ.

This isn't about what they wear on the field or at the game or under the bleachers... it's about the classrooms.

2003-10-08 08:43:55 PM
Sounds like sour grapes from the non-cheerleader faction. Still, the football players don't wear their full uniforms to classes. They change before the game. I could see it if there's a pep rally or something during school hours.

2003-10-08 08:46:22 PM
Calm the hell down, cheerleaders usually have to buy their own uniforms. If the schools have a problem, they need to buy their warm up suits for them. Teenage boys are going to get boners no matter what any girl of any measure of attractiveness is wearing. Cheerleading skirts aren't the problem, nature and hormones are.

2003-10-08 08:50:14 PM
While this is nothing more than a case of high school politics, does it really take that long for the girls to change into their skirts, or even into their full uniform that they don't have time to change before a game? When I played soccer and tennis in HS, rarely did I ever have to change midday, even when I had to catch a bus for an away game. It sounds like the girls are just using this as an excuse to show some skin.

2003-10-08 08:50:49 PM
Fair enough. But why are the cheerleaders making a huge fuss about it? Is it so important that they have to wear their uniforms to class? It only takes about 2 minutes to change clothes. Lazy asses.

2003-10-08 08:52:21 PM
THORNHILL
which i have no problem with.

2003-10-08 08:53:13 PM
Calm the hell down, cheerleaders usually have to buy their own uniforms.

Well, all the more reason to make them less expensive! Matching t-shirts and sweatpants would seem to express the same amount of school spirit.

Teenage boys are going to get boners no matter what any girl of any measure of attractiveness is wearing. Cheerleading skirts aren't the problem, nature and hormones are.

So again, what's the difference what they wear? If they have to buy it, and it has to be cheap.... well, I think you see the point.

2003-10-08 08:53:39 PM
luigi_chan, thornhill, et all, My HS had the policy that cheerleaders, pep squad, and flag girls wore their uniforms on game days to promote school spirit and be walking billboards to entice the community to come to the game. Or you could just go on saying that they're all just dumb illiterate sluts, whatever makes you feel better.

2003-10-08 08:57:39 PM
back in my day, all the chearleaders were from the rich-kid-click. they drove brand new cars and would have had no problem with $110 uniform pants. the rich and beautiful rule the world !

2003-10-08 08:57:51 PM
And when they banned backpacks a bunch of guys bought huge ass purses.

the schools I went to that banned backpacks also banned purses. It sucked. Especially the one school with a huge campus and less then a minute between classes. You never had time to run to your locker so you had to cart around a days worth of books with no backpack

/mildly offtopic

I don't agree with special rules for some students. In highschool the cheerleaders were allowed to wear their uniforms despite the fact that they broke quite a few rules in the dress policy...but us drama geeks couldn't wear out costumes to class.

2003-10-08 08:59:07 PM
skaboomizzy, because cheerleaders are already looked at as a joke, how much more so if they wore sweatpants and tee shirts from K Mart? That would sure promote school spirit... "Hey look at our cheerleaders, they look like disenchanted housewives! Go Cats!"

2003-10-08 08:59:55 PM

It was like that at my high school too. But the school still paid for the uniforms. New ones each year, too, so the girls could keep them.

Meanwhile my softball team had the choice between buying our own uniforms or not playing.

2003-10-08 09:00:15 PM
This is just during classes. Sheesh lighten up people. They still get to wear their uniforms during business hours.

2003-10-08 09:00:42 PM
gordon142 They said someone could cary weapons or bomb in the backpacks. But then wouldn't extend the time between classes because it would add 15 minutes to the day and the teacher's union was honestly going to strike about it. Yeah, I made sure to tell every teacher I had exactly what I thought of them.

Fark a Duckk

DIESELGIRL
exact same story with my volleyball team. they were thoughtful enough to provide the ball, however.

2003-10-08 09:03:15 PM
You're right. They are looked at as a joke. Which is why I don't see why the school board should need to buy them $112 pants.

You're making this way too easy.
