I remember a few years back the penguins at Edinburgh zoo went on strike, and wouldn't do their daily parade before feeding time. It'll be funny if the pandas go on strike, and decide to just sit around all day not doing anything.

As a patriotic Scot that considers Edinburgh "home" in terms of major cities, I'm with the Born Free folks on this ... Edinburgh Zoo is one of the best facilities in the UK, and does a great job of animal husbandry in limited space, but it doesn't compare to a near natural habitat.

If we as a species want to conserve the giant Panda, we should set up a reserve for it in ideal habitat in China, and have as large a breeding population as possible there concentrated in one place, not farm the poor things out all over the planet into unnatural weather conditions.

/ even growing the bamboo to feed them is proving to be quite a challenge in Scotland
