Alright. I'm going to lay here, and I'm going to die. You know what's going to happen? You guys are going to go out, and you'll have dinner, and you'll sit and stare at each other. I was the only one who ever talked in this whole group. It was always, "Socrates, what is truth," "Socrates, what is the nature of the good," "Socrates, what should I order," "Socrates, what are you having." And NOT ONCE did anyone ever say, "Socrates, hemlock is poison."

All pirates are cruel people

All cruel people are people with cruel parents

So: All pirates are people with cruel parents

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;

I don't know the ascii keys for the set theory symbols, but yet, that's logically valid:

(A contains B) and (B contains C) => (A contains C)

In this case A (the largest containing set) being "people with cruel parents", B being "cruel people" and A being "Pirates".

Not sure what you mean by "standard form". All you did was write it in the other direction (C is contained in B instead of B contains C).

TKM: 25 matches (whatever the hell that is) and 6 goals makes a superstar?

That was only one season. His career saw 172 goals in 297 games, 60 games for Brazil, two world cup appearances and 22 national team goals, . Doing all that with an MD and a PhD in philosophy makes you a superstar.

I was waiting for the Love and Death quotes.

"To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love. But then, one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be happy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness."

Thank you for being the first to point that out.
There are 64 standard ones.
Memorize them and you won't get screwed over by the GOP.
Their argumentative M.O. is to State a falsehood, the WHARGARBLE, then jump to a conclusion.
Quite often, the WARGARBLE is Biblical in origin.

There's a reason we don't teach logic as a requirement in our public schools.
If we did, we wouldn't end up electing crooks and liars to public office.

Sad news, Socrates was cool as fark and excellent footballer.

Outspoken in favour of democracy when Brazil was ruled by a military dictatorship.
Achieved a degree in medicine while still playing football professionally and practised medicine after he retired from the game.
Heavy smoker and drinker and once turned up to a random drugs test after a game with a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of beer in the other.
Was also one of the best footballers ever and popularised the back-heel. That Brazil side of 1982 were one of the best teams ever and should have won the World Cup but were knocked out by Italy.
Named his son Fidel, which his mother remarked was "a bit of a strong name to give a child" - he replied, "Mother, look at what you did to me!"

Socrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira - lived up to his name. RIP.
