I never claimed he was an idiot. I disagree with his politics but he's not an idiot.

Can anyone confirm which Candidates has agreed to do this because this is a real kick in the balls to them also?

Paul and Jon Huntsman are the only two candidates to state that they will not attend.

Telling.

I hope one of Ron Paul v. Trump threads gets greenlit.

I am starting to believe that the only thing missing from the GOP Presidential race is guest appearances by Snooki, Hulk Hogan and a very special guest appearance by Brent Michaels.

And the exhumation and display of Ronnie and Nancy Reagan. Wait, what? Nancy's still alive? Whatever.

This race has pretty much taken anything looking like gravitas or dignity out, and replaced it with Weapons Grade Stoopid...

FTA: Mr. Trump's participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like.

We've known all along, that's exactly the point of these debates.

Yeah, Ron Paul is only crazy in the colloquial sense of "holds political positions that range from outright stupid to just rather untenable and sees nothing wrong with that" sense. That gives him the edge in debates with a bunch of nominees who are crazy in the more literal "cannot properly interface with reality in any recognizable fashion" sense.

Rather than a debate, they should play a special version of Hole In The Wall where they twist themselves into the shapes of the Constitution, the Founding Fathers, Ronald Reagan and Jebus.

"The selection of a reality television personality to host a presidential debate that voters nationwide will be watching is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office's history and dignity. Mr. Trump's participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like. To be sure, Mr. Trump's participation will contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere.

Oh, but attempting to prove how presidential you are by hiring a clown to impersonate Obama is somehow dignified?

Oh, and the moderator in the middle? Yeah, Ron Paul said that guy would make a good VP pick, which is basically the same as saying that he would make a good POTUS.

to be fair I'm pretty sure there is a good bit of difference between making a joke, and turning what should be a serious debate into a joke

Ron Paul is in 2nd place in Iowa. (new window) Wouldn't a Gingrich/Paul ticket be wonderful?

Gingrich 25%
Paul 18%
Romney 16%
Bachmann 8%
Cain 8%
Perry 6%
Santorum 6%
Huntsman 2%

I wouldn't think the other candidates would want to do it either, reason being because a debate hosted by Trump would cause independents who casually follow politics to tune in. Those independents would see all these candidates saying the insane things they do to appeal to the american taliban that make up the republican base.

Didn't Donald Trump say he hasn't ruled out getting back into the campaign? How stupid do these people have to be to allow a potential rival to interview them?
