And Bortnick said he's tried everything to solve the problem.

How about moving? Unless you've been living in that house since before the jet age (late '50s), tough shiat.

Dude needs a better antenna. Someone should go over to his place and see what his needs are (are all of the TV stations clustered so he can use a high-gain antenna etc.) and install something better. Or even get an apartment-wide setup with a bigass antenna on the roof if everyone is having problem. Rabbit ears suck as do more expensive indoor antennas. Considering space is at a premium (he is in a big city) he'd likely best be served with a compact antenna (like is used on RV's) installed on the exterior wall of his unit.

"That Quimby fellow promised to build us a Matlock Expressway. How're you going to top that, smart guy?"

"Well, how's this? I'll not only build the expressway, I will spend the rest of this afternoon patiently listening to your interminable anecdotes."

"Hot ziggety-zam! Me first!
Not many people know I owned the first radio in Springfield. Weren't much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A!" he'd say,
Then "B".
"C" would usually follow..."

Under Tennessee law, anyone who suspects that a child is being abused or neglected is required to report to the Division of Family and Children's Services, which will decide whether to investigate. Failing to report suspected abuse is a crime under state law.

What! These laws that require some one to prove what was in you mind or what you were thinking are asinine. Can you imagine being arrested because somebody just knows that you suspected something and didn't report it. On the other extreme, that nosy neighbor can call the police anonymously if she see's a kid with a bruise and doesn't like the parents causing all kinds of strife in that family. I'm glad my kids are over 21 now and I don't have deal with anymore with kids period.

I call that an example of government corruption. Governments are supposed to operate on a community level, not an individual one, and when any politician starts favoring individuals over the public, it starts its descent into becoming a force for funneling the wealth of the community into the pockets of the few.

/there is actually a difference between good government and bad government

Umm, I thought the transition to DTV was supposed to solve that issue of "airplane flutter" where you either get a signal, or no picture at all.

Was there something I missed?

I live near a major airport. I live in an area where planes are not supposed to fly overhead. Other areas have gotten compensation for this shiat in the way of money for better windows, insulation and sound proofing. I never received a dime, and that was there reasoning. "We don't fly over your house."

For some reason, they send planes directly overhead 1 weekend day out of the month, and it is usually timed when I have something going on outside. Assholes.

One of these days...

A bunch of people bought houses near Washington-Dulles Airport, which was out in the sticks when they built in the early 1960s, and decided that it was noisy near the airport. The obvious solution, in some individuals' minds, was that airport should be moved. Fortunately, anyone with half a clue ignored the whiners.

2011-12-03 05:01:37 PM
This politician wants the FAA to reroute the planes or something instead of just having his constituent get the right antenna for the job? Wow.

I hate this shiat. Jets have been around since the 50's. If you buy a house near an airport to take advantage of low property values then shut the fark up about the noise.

You have to take off like an F-16 at John Wayne in Orange County because apparently the existance of an airport was a secret to some house-buyers.

Multipath is multipath, no matter if it is carrying an analogue or digital signal.

Most don't have a clue how routing can cause a long, slow final approach. Basically they're ignorant of why things are the way they are and just complain. After all, it inconveniences them.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw labels on my generation. I hope to invent a time machine one day so I can go back in time and kick a bunch of people in the nuts for selling us down the river, ruining the environment and giving our broken ass capitalist culture credit for economic prosperity imperialism and utilitarianism created.

That's what really happened to america, the morans, like you, believed the capitalists when they told you capitalism, not the destruction of opposing industrial bases during WW2, lead to America's dominance in the post WW2.

I don't understand the problem. I regularly have jet aircraft flying overhead at 1600ft as they turn final into RSW. Unless you're directly across the fence from the end of the runway, it's not really that loud.

But then again, I rather like the sound of large turbofan engines.

I'm about 3 miles from Burbank airport and they fly right overhead some nights. I hardly notice.

Hell I used to live about 300 feet from train tracks and I actually liked that sound.

Did it really? Destruction of Germany's and Japan's factories are what made the moon landing, semiconductor technology, and the internet possible? Usually destroying someone else's industry only produces a relative improvement, not an objective and enormous leap like the US has had since WW2.

/but some people are determined to believe everything is relative, even when they obviously aren't
//also we never destroyed Australia's industry, why haven't they put men on the moon?
