confusing article is confusing.
terra nova is soft but a winner?
(still, ever going to watch it. ever. if it WAS good, I can watch it on DVD)
(Once I finish with Heroes)

I've liked Revenge and New Girl so far their year.

I think what they're saying is that no one watches it but It'll stay around because someone might buy it on DVD (and NOT because Spielberg is the producer. No, not at all).

I don't watch any of those other shows. Not because I'm some hipster, I watch NCIS and American Horror Story. But Two Broke Girls and The New Girl has been able to make the incredibly hot Kat Dennings and incredibly cute Zooey Daschenell annoying as hell and I don't watch reality tv so who cares. Alcatraz might be cool.

LOSER: NBC. Is the Peacock totally plucked?

Gee, they ask that as if NBC favors Whitney over Community.

Oh, wait...

Aw man, I was hoping they'd cancel Terra Nova by now. That show sucks but I end up watching it because hubby watches is. Is Prime Suspect being canceled? Shame, I kind of liked it.

Got this from a Deadline article from 11/14:

"After a pretty dismal fall, NBC is shaking things up in midseason with several scheduling changes. Gone from the lineup is struggling freshman Prime Suspect (NBC says it hasn't made a final decision on its cancellation)..."

As for Terra Nova... eh, it never really captured my interest.

That show isn't even interesting enough to be terrible. It's just bland and boring. Maybe we're spoiled on all the cable shows that have given us such great, dark characters.

Btw TMLO, have you seen this trailer: Link (new window)? Heh, looks pretty awesome.

I think that's precisely it.

With Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and all that jazz, it's kinda hard to get excited by "LOOK, DINOSAURS!" *BA-DOW, BA-DOW, PEW PEW PEW*

YES!

Oh, Season 3 cannot get here soon enough. The additions of Neal McDonough, Mykelti Williamson, and Carla Gugino should be interesting.

From what I can tell and I haven't really seen more than the ads for her show but I've seen her stand up and Whitney Cummings is considered a great comedian (is there an extra "n" or "e" if they're female?) she's considered like any female comic to be marketable if she's sort of attractive and talks kind of dirty. And puts down men of course. Like the white girl who would rate as a 6-if-you've-had-four-beers equivalent of "white people drive like dis and black people drive like dis".

And she probably gives good head.

Once Upon a Time

I sometimes watch
Two Broke Girls

Did watch The X-Factor for a bit, but stopped watching it a few weeks back.

I've seen her standup act. She can be funny.

I've seen her show. It can't be funny.

Which would possibly explain why she has a show on NBC.

Possibly.

"Two broke girls" would also be a great name and concept for a series of porn videos.

Especially if it starred Kat Dennings. Yum.

Oh I'm obsessed with AHS in all its shlocky horror glory. Even though I'm one of those suckers who managed to think Tate was just misunderstood instead of a monster so I got all heartbroke over last week's happenings and geez it's hard to avoid spoilers when talking about AHS. I can't wait for next week's episode. WHAT'S IN THE WALLS.

Terra Nova is awesomely bad. We're totally addicted to it.

2011-12-03 03:53:01 PM
Of course the Fark Nerderati are going to lay some hate on Terra Nova but after the wife and I spent years watching Alias and Lost we didn't want to be slapped in the face and covered in pig-vomit at the end of the series. At least they answer questions on Terra Nova and don't string you along for 5 years only to tell you that everyone is dead.

JJ Abrams and the writers for lost/alias can inhale a smoke monster and have it burst forth from their chest for how they farked over what could have been some great TV.

You know, I've tried really hard to like 2 Broke Girls. I've watched it a few times because I like Kat Dennings. I keep hoping it will get better, but it's really an embarrassment. It's on par with Whitney as far as how bad it is and I tried to watch both. Of course I only lasted 1 episode with Whitney. I still can't bring myself to watch New Girl because I find Zooey Dechanel completely annoying in everything she does.

It must be nice, as an actor, to work on a show where your character could be killed at any time -- but you don't have to leave the show.

Terra Nova makes me sad. It's a great concept and I think a terrific show could come forth from the idea if the right guys were in charge of it. But alas, it's mid-grade schlock that doesn't really work out well.

Meh, I don't like reality (hah) shows and lost all interest in Sit Coms years ago; the laugh tracks drive me nuts and there's very few situations that are funny - it's more about slinging one liners. I watch Terra Nova, it's brain candy and not exactly a stellar show but there's always hope it'll get better. Once Upon A Time hooked me from the first episode and I enjoy the twist they've given to the Fairy Tale world, they leave enough room for guessing as to peoples motives and it was fun to see the Evil Queen develop some dimensions and real motivations other than being wicked and wanting every one to suffer; she's almost sympathetic now. Grimm on the other hand, I don't know, the pilot really disappointed me and I guess I should give it another chance, but it's coming off like a less cool version of Supernatural without any good of funny moments. I'm enjoying Hell On Wheels, even though it's a bit Deadwood Lite, but really, the show that I accidentally discovered and truly loved was a British one. (Damn Limeys can't make food for shait but they make some durn good TV watching) That was The Shades. I hate that they have such short series though, six or seven episodes didn't do that show justice.

2011-12-03 04:45:16 PM
Grimm is a nice surprise. A clever twist on old fairy tales with a decent and likable cast.

It's no coincidence that it's the only new NBC show worth checking out.

I love what Once Upon A Time did to the Cinderella story and I'm really interested to see how it grows from there. As a bonus, it's the first time I ever heard of Bill Willingham's Fables and it's convinced me to have another go at reading graphic novels. I'm heading to the bookstore at some point to see if they have them.

Are there any similar series I should look into?

2011-12-03 05:08:11 PM
Terra Nova is Eight is Enough with half the children and even lesser quality writing than you got in the 70's. That show is terrible on levels I didn't think possible in a show with dinosaurs.

Grimm and Up All Night have grown on me. Grimm I like their take on the old fairly tales. It is a nice diversion to cop shows and the other usual crap on TV. Up All night started slow, but it's gotten better over the season. I watch Two Broke Girls just to see Kat's curves.
I tried watching Terra Nova, but the acting was terrible. The CGI was better than I expected, but that isn't enough to get me to watch it again.

She's probably my favorite character on the show. Good mix of detestable likability. During the second episode, did one of the stereotypical "oh no she won't/oh no you didn't" reactions. I enjoyed last week's episode, but then the main reason I started watching the show is Raphael Sbarge.
