Not the subby but I am from Bradley County where Cleveland is located. You have to give our kids credit here. Where else are you going to find 14-16 year old girls intelligent and mature enough to seduce the cities finest men in blue into committing statutory rape and suppling them with drugs? I have to admire these underage girls for finding a way to maintain an active sex life and a major drug addiction with out getting caught--oh, wait, they did get caught. Never mind.

You put in (Tennessee) as to state that I don't already believe all that to be the case about the Cleveland Ohio PD.

Is county law enforcement good enough that the city could abolish its police force?

Under Tennessee law, anyone who suspects that a child is being abused or neglected is required to report to the Division of Family and Children's Services, which will decide whether to investigate. Failing to report suspected abuse is a crime under state law.

Everybody is a mandatory reporter in Tennessee? Up here only people who work with children have to report abuse.

I've had plenty of drinks with cops off-duty. Is this just a Cleveland police department rule?

A Chief of a department with 92 officers has five stars on his shirt? Who does he think he is, Ike?

Joe Esposito of NYPD has 36,000 officers under him and he has only four stars.

A Captain in a real police department supervises more officers than Wes Snyder does.

I'm from Cleveland, TN and it's good to know that things are still the same in the old home town. Plus I think Cleveland got another headline not too long ago. A police officer shot a woman on the interstate (of course it was for stabbing him so...). Hooray for Cleveland! How often does such a small town get so much press?

I work with a bunch of retired law enforcement...and quite a few of them are not much above these TN cops. There are a lot of good LEOs....but there are also a lot of thugs and morons too

Agreed. I'm thinking of being a cop and there is no excuse for this. (I have an inabilty to tolerate systematic bullshiat. Also the Police here in Minnesota are pretty straight. The police in my town don't really do anything other then respond to the fact that someone broke into a car at the movie theater. They do quickly respond to the fact you dialed 911 and hanged up as I discovered when I was seven.)

This is one in a string of similar incidents involving local law enforcement misbehaving and/or committing crimes.

Just a couple weeks ago, just across the county line, a Collegedale Police Officer was engaging in sex in a car in a public place (new window). He apparently drove his patrol car to the meeting place, jumped into the other vehicle and started having sex. The police from another agency who notice them having sex didn't report it, and it took a while to make its way through the grapevine and get any media attention. I believe that the Collegedale PD, is still investigating how they are gone to brush the matter under the rug.

Remember, police are better than you, so they can't possibly be held to a higher standard.

Q: "Do you know why I pulled you over?"

A: "Because you got C's in high school?"
B: " 2nd string half back for the local football team wasn't the straight shot to the pros you thought it was?"

When I first heard stories like this from more than one ex-cop I thought many were exaggeration, but these days I know they were all true.
Stuff like this pretty much goes on in every dept out there.

And the horseshiat about there being good cops doesn't fly since the 'good' cops still protect the bad ones.

My family's been living in that part of TN since the early 1800s, and I've still got family living around there, and the local cops are WAY worse than even these allegations. Law enforcement in most of the South is, and has always been, an exceptionally vile strain of criminal element.

/the only time they're ever interested in drugs is when they want to either consume them, sell them, give them to teenage girls for sex, or steal the money after they've been sold.

From TFA:Snyder still insists there wasn't enough information to begin an investigation.

"We had no victims, no proof to act on,"

Excuse me for my confusion, but isn't the purpose of an investigation to gather information and collect proof if wrongdoing was found to have happened? Or is General of the Army Synder waiting for the cops' conscience to compel them to turn themselves in?

A truer statement has never been said. A few years ago Chattanooga Police Department pulled over some young 20 year olds in a gas station after a high speed chase. They ordered the driver and passenger out of the vehicle, on the ground on their stomach where they were handcuffed behind their back. Then three cops proceeded to kick them in their face. They shattered the passenger's eye socket, tazed him in the back of the head which caused minor brain damage. There were 9 cops on the scene. Six who didn't participate but did nothing to stop the beating. To make matters worse, the cops who beat them filed a number of false charges including assault on a police, etc..... Those 6 cops didn't do a damn thing to report the bad cops or contact the DA to tell him about the bogus charges.

The only reason the truth came out was the security video from the gas station, where the stop and beat down took place, was obtained by the kids' defense attorneys. Had this taken place in a business without security video the truth would have never came out.

The video was released to the news and only the three cops who participated in the beatings were fired. The DA (a former cop) refused to prosecute them and one was later hired by the county hospital as a security guard where he shot and killed someone in an incident there. Had he been prosecuted for Aggravated Assault he would have been a convicted felon with a record and couldn't have qualified for the security guard job.

A cop who stands by and does nothing when witnessing a restrained and helpless person get beat and tazed is a willing accomplish, maybe not criminally, but at least enough that he should loose their job in law enforcement. Then they stand by and allow their fellow officer to file false charges against the kids and do nothing. Again, they are willing accomplishes and should at a minimum be terminated.

Tennessee police are pretty much just a bunch of rednecks.

And no true Scotsman would pass up a chance to eat Haggis, either, right? (This is not a defense of these asshats, either, just pointing out fallacious logic.)

You're more than welcome to come to Shelby County and do a ride along with me on the Sheriff's Rescue, or get a ride along arranged with Memphis. Of course, I doubt you'd do so - it's easier to blatantly label people when you don't have evidence to contrast your misconceptions.
