Nikita khrushchev once said that our grandchildren would live under Communism. I was just a kid.

As an old man, I am saddened to see this prediction come true.

Is this a joke? Seriously.

2011-12-03 01:19:35 AM
I thought the Senate ended up voting against this?

2011-12-03 01:23:54 AM
While I disagree with this horror the Senate has in mind, you might want to check on the date the US Constitution was actually written and ratified. Hint: it was not 1776.

Don't confuse the Constitution-loving subby with stupid meaningless facts like when it was actually written and ratified, because he LOVES the Constitution. At least a million trillion bajillion times more than a stupid libtard like you. He doesn't have to know when it was created, why, or what's in it, what's important is the LOVE.

He was just a little off. It's more like corporate fascism. Read "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis.

Read it again. The only thing voted down was the amendment to NOT include American citizens. In other words, the farking bill passed, AND it includes you and your little dog too, citizen.

What about all the members and ex-members of the armed services who are currently armed and swore to uphold and defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic?

BillCo: Damn Democrats - WTF???

That was the motion to remove American citizens from this bill.

As you can see, it failed and now we can be arrested, detain, and imprisoned without charge by the military.

BillCo: Damn Democrats - WTF???

Well, luckily, the head Democrat said he will veto this if it ever makes it to his desk. Do you think Newt or Mitt would be so enlightened?

/yep, both sides right now are definitely sucking

2011-12-03 09:18:41 AM
I hope SCOTUS biatch slaps this pronto.

2011-12-03 09:19:20 AM
BTW this was a vote on an amendment to the original bill, the bill itself is another matter.

Sleeping Monkey: Well, luckily, the head Democrat said he will veto this if it ever makes it to his desk. Do you think Newt or Mitt would be so enlightened?

This was a vote on an amendment, not the bill itself. The amendment contained verbiage you'd expect Democrats to support.

He also said he would close Gitmo, said he was against the Patriot Act, said he would go against tellecomm immunity, said he was against warrantless wiretapping...

When it comes to civil liberties, what Obama says, and what Obama does are two entirely different things.

2011-12-03 09:22:25 AM
Aarontology: He also said he would close Gitmo,

He signed an executive order ordering it shut down. Then another order to get the inmates moved stateside. Guess who made sure the funding was never made available to carry those out?

Obstructionist Republicans They're just as much to blame, but Obama didn't do much to fight it.

2011-12-03 09:29:21 AM
Look at the bright side, if your arent being killed by a predator drone, you can eat horsemeat while you are being waterboarded.

2011-12-03 09:37:48 AM
Aarontology: but Obama didn't do much to fight it.

Well wasn't much he could do, since he needs Congress to approve the funding, and the GOP wet their pants when he mentioned moving people stateside, that kind of stalled things. And it's not like the GOP is going to bring up shutting down Gitmo, given they're dead set against it.

voltOhm: Thanks libtards...when they are coming for YOUR family...remember - you wanted this.

Like the USA PATRIOT Act, I think both parties are to blame for this monstrosity...

These people do not have our best interest.
If they start acting on this to US citizens, it will be time for a revolution.

It won't be as peaceful as the Tea Party protests or Occupy Wall Street.

2011-12-03 09:50:27 AM
did anyone really expect this to go any differently? Republicans and Democrats alike are afraid. they're afraid of different things and have different reasons for wanting to crack down on US citizens...but both sides agree that US citizens need to be controlled and monitored at all times.

I'll bet Obama signs this too. it'll pass the house no problem, then Obama signs it in the dead of night on a friday right before the holidays or a vacation. Then it'll get a passing mention on CNN and then the press will forget about it completely.

2011-12-03 09:57:09 AM
All I can say is, thank the gods for the 2nd Amendment - come and get me farkers, I dare you.

/btw, I'm a liberal

It's pretty sad to watch intelligent people make pathetic excuses for what other people do or don't do. Accept the facts. He's full of the same shiat the other guys are. There's no shame in admitting you were fooled. I'll admit it. I thought it would make a difference if I voted for him. I was wrong, I was fooled. See? It's simple.

So, basically now if I don't like someone I can make an anonymous call and "tell on" them as being part of a terrorist cell and then sit back watch the military scoop them off of Main Street in the middle of the night, and never have to hear from them again? Oh, most excellent. Well, until someone does the same to me and/or my loved ones, of course.

I wonder why nobody used their super secret infinite hold on this legislation? don't members of the Senate have the ability to just shut down something on a whim?

2011-12-03 10:28:51 AM
Your 'rights' as property = US Constitution, since the 'Founding Fathers' were a bunch of land-grabbers and scam artists.

Easement-ed!

Eminent Domain-ed!!!

2011-12-03 10:38:02 AM
We gotta ask, who gains from this and what do they gain? That's the real problem.

Weaver95: I wonder why nobody used their super secret infinite hold on this legislation? don't members of the Senate have the ability to just shut down something on a whim?

Only if it involves health care.

Given what we now know about the financial bailout lends us an expectation of what we may not know about the possible European financial crisis. Based on that, I'm pressed to believe the alarming rate these bills are being pushed through the Congress (Stop Online Piracy Act, 2012 National Defense Authorization Act) introduces a good chance that our elected officials know what's coming. That, quite frankly, worries me.

2011-12-03 10:40:59 AM
Time for some good ole fashioned checking and balancing. I wish Tie Domi was a Supreme Court justice so he could put 'em through the glass and watch them spit up red Chicklets.

The full bill passed 93-7 and it's a defense bill.

93-7. In this case, both sides really are bad.

/So vote Republican.

Once they have this power, we will never be able to take it away. And once they have it, it is only a matter of time before it's abused.

Amazing our only hope has turned out to be OWS activism.
