"The next thing I knew the yard was full of officers and they wanted to know if they could go into my house and check my house," Snead said. "They did, and they found my medication from the VA and they counted them and there were some missing."

How exactly is a cop to know that legitimately prescribed medicine is missing? I'm actually curious about this one.

Count out for each day

I'd be screwed if anyone did that to me - I take as needed even though it's prescribed as BID (twice a day), and always end up rationing toward the end of each month.

I assume for controlled meds they could use that to throw on another charge, or at least threaten to charge him for selling them or something.

FTFA: "He admits they hung out for a couple of days and smoked crack cocaine among other activities. Then, when he went to call her a cab, instead of dialing 411 he accidentally dialed 911."

Well some of us just suffer from bad judgment. I'm not sure if you can fault this guy for bad judgment. Rest assured. If I ever need to go for paid-for sex in this life, I will be sure not to hang out with it.

Hanging out with sex gets you things like marriage.

Oooooh. Yah, the cab fare on a trip to Bolivia would be insane. Plus one would think the drugs in Bolivia would be a helluva lot better than NC.

So...someone is a guest in your home, steals some of your medication, and you're the one who goes to jail for charges relating to "delivering a controlled substance"? How does that work?

2011-12-03 01:06:11 AM
I am curious as to why the hell the guy opened his fat mouth about his activities of those few days ... Just apologize a lot and say I dialed the wrong number ... Don't explain that you have been smoking crack with a hookers for days....

2011-12-03 01:08:30 AM
I'm still not clear what he said that brought the cops to his place.

And can you really be busted for using more than the prescribed amount of meds? It's not like he can just get them refilled anytime he wants.

Gilligann: I'm still not clear what he said that brought the cops to his place.

He called 911 and asked for a cab. Of course the cops were going to show up and look for drugs.

Harv72b: This article made a lot more sense once I realized there was a Bolivia in North Carolina.

Oh definitely. I kept thinking he got involved in some human trafficking. Guy gets bored and travels to Bolivia to get himself some female slave? Whaaaat? After the non-chalantness of the "we smoked crack cocaine", it wasn't surprising at all.

ThisNameSux: I don't get it, why did the cops show up?

Duh. They have to. There are a thousand scenarios that could be life or death where response time is critical. Maybe it's a home invasion and the person barely managed to initiate the call before they were cut off. The 911 center will generally try to make contact by calling back but they'll still usually send a unit by to check even if the call is answered and the person claims everything is fine. Could be the home invader who answered. If they get no response to callback attempts, they'll definitely send units.

I thought everyone was aware of the rule when accidentally dialing 911. Don't hang up! You wait for someone to answer then explain that you're terribly sorry for accidentally hitting 911 instead of 611. If you just go "oops" and hang up, the cops will arrive shortly.

2011-12-03 01:21:13 AM
So.....

He admits that he rented a hooker, they spent a few days smoking crack, she stole some of his prescription pills ("I don't understand how that could have happened!"), and he says "The whole thing is just a huge misunderstanding."

What's left to "misunderstand"?

Well that's absolute horseshiat as an arrestable offense. The only time I've had controlled painkillers in the past 20 years was after my hernia surgery (the old fashioned kind, not the scope kind - 7 inch scar) and I took farking twice the dose during the first four days and then stopped taking it altogether. I still have 30 pills left, but I would have been over if the cops raided my house during the first four days. It's been over a year since the surgery.

Is that really legitimate for arrest? That's nonsense.

ThisNameSux: I don't get it, why did the cops show up?

Because emergency teams are legally obligated to respond to any and all 911 calls unless the caller specifically tells them not to. And the default response is cops. This dumbass probably just hung up instead of telling them, "Sorry, I dialed a wrong number."

2011-12-03 10:25:46 AM
Something's missing here because usually if someone accidently dials 911 and hangs up, the dispatch person calls right back to determine if you've got an emergency. Did the guy ignore the call-back?

The same people that when they have a hooker and drugs in their home and the cops knock on the door and ask if you mind if they "look around", they say "SURE COME ON IN!"
