I can't decide which I dislike more: "Christmas Shoes" or "Dominick the Donkey"

2011-12-02 11:01:05 PM
I dislike whatever is playing in the stores, it's particularly crappy. It's like a vaccine that makes me hate all the christmas music and wish the season was over just so I can get back to hearing the bland stuff I almost don't hear them playing the rest of the year.

Some people I know hate the waitresses 'christmas wrapping'. It only gets me when it gets played in july

The only Christmas music worth listening to is anything by Trans-Siberian Orchestra or Dr. Demento, depending on one's mood.

I plan on listening to Onkel Tom Angelripper all christmas season.

Lead singer of Sodom singing Jingle Bells is better than any of the other crap out there.

/also, The Vandals

This however, doesn't suck. (new window)

"Deck The Halls"

Deck us all with Boston Charlie,
Walla Walla, Wash., an' Kalamazoo!
Nora's freezin' on the trolley,
Swaller dollar cauliflower alley-garoo!

Don't we know archaic barrel
Lullaby Lilla Boy, Louisville Lou?
Trolley Molly don't love Harold,
Boola boola Pensacoola hullabaloo!

Bark us all bow-wows of folly,
Polly wolly cracker 'n' too-da-loo!
Donkey Bonny brays a carol,
Antelope Cantaloupe, 'lope with you!

Hunky Dory's pop is lolly gaggin' on the wagon,
Willy, folly go through!
Chollie's collie barks at Barrow,
Harum scarum five alarm bung-a-loo!

Dunk us all in bowls of barley,
Hinky dinky dink an' polly voo!
Chilly Filly's name is Chollie,
Chollie Filly's jolly chilly view halloo!

Bark us all bow-wows of folly,
Double-bubble, toyland trouble! Woof, woof, woof!
Tizzy seas on melon collie!
Dibble-dabble, scribble-scrabble! Goof, goof, goof!

The crap they started playing at work a week before Thanksgiving is mostly over 50 years old.. and the one that seems to be played hourly is 'Baby It's Cold Outside'.

And it's going to keep playing until January is half over..

Well, those people suck. I've always liked it. Run DMC's "Christmas In Hollis" and Fear's "Fark Christmas" are also favorites.

From Wikipedia: "Last Christmas" is a song by British pop duo Wham!, released on Epic Records in 1984, on a double A-side with "Everything She Wants". It was written by George Michael, one half of the duo. The song has been covered by many artists throughout the years.

After a short and painful search where I listened to parts of about 20 covers of "Last Christmas", the closest thing I heard to a 40's girl group was Atomic Kitten. And that sounded nothing at all like The Andrews Sisters.

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: At least they had the decency to leave Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" out of the article.

I cannot listen to that song without wanting to kill whoever didn't notice how horrible the synth sounds in the choruses.

Okay, as a duly appointed representative of the Christmas Music consortium, I must now put out the rules for Christmas music.

1. NO MANNHEIM!!
2. It doesn't matter what style you do it in, Twelve Days of Christmas is still gonna suck.
3. Christmas music can be played to death between Black Friday and Christmas. Anytime out of that window and the Christmas Music consortium take no responsibility for people hating/hitting you.
4. If you're going to cover an old Christmas song, make sure we can still recognize it.
5. "Butterfly Kisses" sucked. No need to rename it "Christmas Shoes" for the holidays.
6. I don't care if you want to fark during the holidays, there is no need for doing so to Christmas Slow Jamz.
7. Never, ever half-ass your original Christmas music. Everyone can smell it from a mile away if you do.
8. Did i mention...NO MANNHEIM!!
9. Radio stations: There are hundreds of Christmas songs out there, and at the low end, there's at least five or six hours' worth of "standard" songs you can go through without repeating a song. So we don't need to hear the same song ten times a day, by the same artist.
10. Parodies? No. Don't go there. Ever. No. I mean it. No.
11. Because it can't be said enough: NO GODDAMNED MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER EVER!!!

That is all.

Sufjan Stevens has some great Christmas music.

And for the record, I want to stab candy canes through the drywall whenever I hear Feliz Navidad or that godawful Wham song. Fake-o Christmas sentimentality make me twitchy.

That is probably the worst "legit" christmas song ever. Repetitive on a scale that matches "all I want for christmas is my two front teeth"
