Having had a mammogram (and yes, I am a guy) after finding a lump in my own chest,
I have every single sympathy for her. In my case, thankfully, the lump wasn't anything
serious.

I hope she comes out of this OK. She is quite a funny (if somewhat polarizing) personality.

Doesn't that seem a bit fake? The found some mass in her boob, biopsied it and found that it was cancer all in one day? Give me a break.

Reading the comments, it sounds as though where she got her mammogram done also does in-house biopsies, so it's possible.

So this is what it takes for Jardin to oppose an encampment of unwanted residents that multiply and live in their own filth on semi-public property.

/snark aside: cancer sucks.

Welcome to the future chief.

I'm kinda shocked this hasn't happened before. I honestly half expected a saprize toomer to pop up in a cameo role when they went spelunking in Katie Courick's crap-chute that one time.

All jocularity aside, if this saves some lives by underscoring the importance of testing, then so be it.

Cancer diagnoses can be made quickly these days: my mom got her diagnosis for NHL within 2 days of them
doing a biopsy on a lump they removed, and I knew within a day of my own procedure that the mass they
removed was non-cancerous, and that was 7 years ago.

Either they knew from the shape and placement of the mass that it was cancerous, or they did a needle biopsy on
the spot and had a basic test done on the sample.

It has become a cliche to say "Early Detection is the key to cancer survival", but the reason for that is that is is
absolutely 100% true.

Wow sorry to hear this about whom I'm sure is a fine, lovely woman. Whoever she is.

2011-12-02 04:16:04 PM
Watching that unfold tweet by tweet was actually kind of terrifying.

2011-12-02 04:20:53 PM
I don't care if she is 41. I would hit it. Hell, I would have inspected her for lumps for free.

2011-12-02 04:46:15 PM
See, I figured that headline was a joke.

2011-12-02 04:48:38 PM
She appears on TWIT every now and again and is pretty entertaining. Hopefully things work out for her.

In the OR when we remove a lump or cyst we send it off for diagnosis while the patient is still under. If it comes back positive the surgeon could take more tissue out or even do a mastectomy if it's that bad.

"In many ways, the fact that she Tweeted her very personal experience is a sign of How We Live Now." -- WTF? Tweeting your mammogram for publicity has nothing to do with how we live now. The only people doing that are attention whores and those who will make up some excuse like 'raising awareness'.

Grim. No idea who she is, but I hope everything works out for her.

Absolutely not! My wife's doctor found a lump a couple years ago. It was biopsied and found to be non-cancerous within 24 hours. And that's for a run of the mill health care plan.

acronym: I thought scientologists didn't go to the doctors

If you work for Co$ they'll talk you out of going to the doctors. If you pay for it out of your own pocket they won't have a problem. It's psychiatrists and psychologists that xenu followers aren't supposed to go to.

I like Xeni, she's entertaining. And even if I didn't, I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone.

But, my god, what an attention whore she is.

2011-12-02 06:18:13 PM
Anyone else think she deserves it for being such an attention whore that she live tweets her medical procedures?

2011-12-02 06:18:47 PM
That's great. She's sharing her cancer story with people so she can feel better about it.

I have a coworker in his late 50s, who just got diagnosed with early stage bone cancer. Maybe we should all chip in and get him a twitter account, make him feel better.

:/

/I know it's free

Really?? Is this where the world is headed?? I had cancer in 1969. I have a titaninium rod and about 50 screws that hold my right leg together and had a tumor the size of an orange cut out of the same leg. I absored more radiation that a worker at a Japanese nuke plant. Who cares about that? NO ONE CARES!! Not one farking person on this planet gives a rats *ss that I had it. I get so farking tired of all this "I am a survivor" crap. Attention whore is the real word for all of them. Survivor walks, pink shirts, pink ribbons..... it's all media generated bullshiat to make $$$.

Get on with your lives people. People are diagnosed with cancer everyday. Just because you are so called "celebrity" makes you no better than anyone else.

I know I will take some heat for this and YES cancer is a very very bad thing. Have some dignity and deal with it yourself. Believe this we all get tired of hearing about the chemo, the radiation, the nausea.... don't drag your friends and family down that road with you.

That really is amazing. I thought for sure it would take at least a week just to get the biopsy results. I learn a lot from fark.

No, its generated by charities that collect $$$ and do things like, funding research to cure cancer.
