Wow. Looks like I stand to make a staggering 20ish bucks. I'd rather be given one swift kick to the nuts of ticket master's CEO.

Fark Ticketmaster. They're the reason I couldn't get a decent seat at Soilder Field for under $250.

haha, you get a MAX of 17 coupons for $1.50 off (only 2 can be used for a total of $3.00) and they're non-transferable and expire in 48 months...

Still waiting for my share of the 1990's CD price fixing class action lawsuit.

Also waiting for my Guinness bar towel.

FTA: "Also, the Counsel attorneys plan to ask for an award of up to $16,500,000 in attorneys' fees and expenses, as well as $20,000 to the two plaintiffs who brought forward the class action in the first place."

$20k for the plaintiffs and $16.5 million for the slime.

Sweet.

Alright!!!!

Is this gonna be like the CD class-action lawsuit where we (The general public who paid millions in a price-fixing scandal ) were awarded $5 each (Which never came to me BTW) and the lawyers got million$$$???

Count me in!

My husband just got a check for $1.56 for some other class action lawsuit against eBay (eBay sellers during a certain time got a check). I should be getting something from the Ticketmaster one. It's going to be a good Christmas.

If not for the slime, would TM have been punished at all? It's ok though, I'm a moron who comments on matters I know nothing about as well.

Wow, I should be elligable for the max refund, big whoop. $1.50 refund for each $20+ convenience charge? Wow, hit them were it hurts; geez. This whole lawsuit and settlement was just a dog and pony show so lawyers could get a cut of the money. There should be a cap on what lawyers in class action suits can recieve in compensation along with a minimum of $50 per victim to actually make class action lawsuits worth it fo rthe consumer. Now it is just a legal money grab for greedy lawyers.

So you have nothing to contribute to the conversation?

$100 million would be even better, it would encourage more attorneys to go after people who violate consumers' rights.

there really isn't any other way to see a show unless you want to drive to the venues the day tickets go on sale and purchase direct (which in most cases costs more in gas than TM fees)

I'll take my 25.50, better than nothing, but seriously when I bought those tix I knew I was gettin hosed by 'em, who the fark didn't?

well. the most you can get back with $1.50 per order with a cap of 17 orders is $25.50. I guess that's cool.

I was trying to figure it out from the settlement and it seems like the 2 max per order (instead of stacking all 17). Aren't ticketmaster fees still like 5 bucks?

Correct me though on this: A)They don't have to stop doing what they are doing, just mention it on the website; B) They are really the only place to get tickets if you aren't right by the boxoffice (a monopoly); C) The reward isn't even enough to cover their regular fees that have nothing to do with the tickets.

That's how you troll my friends.

and it seems that the refund is in a form of a voucher. So either you pay them more money to use the voucher, or you don't get to use the voucher.

Gentlemen, we're dealing with a professional here.

I am gonna have to side with Ticketmaster on this one.

The complaint is solely that their 'processing fees' arn't what it costs them to process the ticket, and the "UPS fees" arn't what UPS charges *them*. Well no shiat. It's called making a profit. The 7 dollar convinence fee is what I pay so I don't have to drive my sorry ass down to the box office which is 45 minutes away. Now the fact that they charge you 2 bucks to EMAIL your damn ticket is a bit stupid, but that is what it costs to use them.

Maybe someone will come along and offer compitition, but until then, carry your ass to the box office if you don't like it.

They weren't doing anything questionable, they were charging a fee for their service.

Just slimeball lawyers trying to make a buck.

I think every class action lawsuit needs to come with a "donate the monetary value of whatever you were going to give me to charity" checkbox. Every class action comes with say the Red Cross, United Way, and a children's hospital of someone's choice (maybe the judge or the plantiff who started it) as an option. I don't want a check for 1.56, 5 bucks off the CD thing or 20 dollars worth of Ticketmaster credits. TM isn't a monopoly so much anymore and I've found ways to avoid using them. I'd pretty much always just say "send this on to the children's hospital".

mama2tnt: Could someone refresh my memory, please? - Which band was it who determined to go around Ticketmaster and beat them by not using them? And was it successful?

Pearl Jam. They played a couple of tours without Ticketmaster but couldn't play at most of the big places you'd typically go to see a concert so they resorted to playing small theaters, festival grounds, and even baseball stadiums. They thought other bands and artists would join them, but few if any ever did. The non-ticketmaster tours were successful in that they managed to pull them off with ticket prices in the $18-$22ish range (for arguably the biggest, most popular rock band at the time), but unsuccessful in that they were a logistical nightmare and ultimately it became apparent to the band that it was far more trouble for the fans than it was worth.

For about $7 more per ticket, fans could go see them in places that held 20K people instead of 5k-8k, and have proper seating, security, and toilets not of the portable variety. Also the non-ticketmaster tickets were easy to counterfeit, and were ridiculously difficult to attain in the first place since they were sold via calling horribly inadequate "hotlines". The running joke in the mid-90s was that you were more likely to win the lottery than to get PJ tickets.

Ticketmaster is the scourge of the earth. This week, I got tickets for Jim Gaffigan at the Warner Theater - the 'convenience charges' for the top price tickets were 27% of the base price of the tickets.

Tickets went on sale at 10AM - Logged in, and refreshing every few seconds up to the start, I clicked on 'best seats available' at 10:00:02.....and I'm at the back of the goddamn mid-balcony.

Let me guess: I have to go online to register, then they'll email me an authorization number, then I download some forms to mail in along with my ORIGINAL receipts.

In about 90 days they'll either issue me a credit, good only on my next Ticketmaster purchase or a debit card that I have to use as a credit card within a certain time period.

Yeah, sign me up.

/FWIW, a very happy teenager of mine got to see Peal Jam in an outdoor amphitheater seating maybe 1500 people. He's still smiling.
