Didn't Cobain blow his brains out before he was granted a trademark on that shirt?

I would totally get one of those but I hate the lights, the sound, the rhythm, and the noise Lyrics of a typical trip to the mall.

oddly enough, talking with most Nirvana fans, I get the impression that I'm talking with an IRL-equivalent of Musically Oblivious 8th Grader.

I am so glad this guy is dead. Serves him right for dying young after he single-handedly destroyed modern music. Bel Biv Devoe, Bon Jovi, Boyz 2 Men - that was music. Not some Seattle gutterslug whiny about his pain pill habit. Too bad Cobain's mother didn't abort him before the tragedy. I hope he's in hell.

Flipper, Flipper, Queen of the Ocean
Chicken of the Sea is what she will be
Cause Flipper, Flipper hasn't a notion
Of tuna nets, or hostility.

Suggested reading: The Field Guide to the North American Bird. Book cover may not be safe for work.

By Adam and Lauren Blank.
Ilustrated by Michael Moore. Not that Michael Moore.

People who bought this book also bought a couple of those Jack Handey Deep Thoughts books.

Hee, hee, hee. Handey, finger. Get it?

I'd actually buy that shirt, though.. I think I have a white Tee and a Sharpie somewhere around here.

The best album they had was the Live in New York Unplugged. But even then it was only good because they pre-recorded it in the studio over many cuts, and then lip sang to it on stage.

Um. Flipper was a band. That was their logo. If anyone's got a trademark complaint happening, it's them. Courtney may well own Nirvana, but she doesn't own Flipper.

God, I miss the anything goes DIY fashion culture of the 90's alternative scene. People didn't have places like Hot Topic or Forever 21, so they had to create their own counterculture clothes and hair styles. Dye your hair with Kool-Aid. Get a blank shirt and doodle on it. Draw your favorite band's logo. (Especially good when your favorite band was one like Fugazi. As in "This is not a Fugazi shirt.") Raid the local Army and Navy surplus store for your boots. Dig through your grandparents closet for that cardigan. Discover that if it can be put on a chain, it can be worn as jewelry.

And most of all, keep it cheap. Cheap and creative. DIY!

Funny how many of these kids who believed in this motto became adult hipsters in the next decade and were willing to pay through the nose for similar outfits to achieve that same counterculture feel. Now instead of making it yourself, you go these "alternative" stores or hit Etsy for the latest trends. No need to be creative on your own. What happened to the DIY ethic?

In other news, Kurt Cobain is relevant.

I was there. I grew up when grunge did and the Holy Trinity remain specfarkingtacular albums to pull out and crank when I want to hear what good music sounded like (I mean come on, they're nominating farking Skrillex for multiple Grammys) as the sun set on rock to rise on pop again. But whenever these songs come on the radio they just feel... tired. It's over. Let it sleep.

I know that was trolling, but since it was brought up. Nirvana's music....is ok.

I'm a huge fan of STP however, and I don't like how they were thrown under that grunge banner because they came out at the same time. I think STP's early work fits more under hard rock than grunge.

And yes, BBD was the bomb.

Psssh. They won't all get her pregnant. Sure, they'll all penetrate her repeatedly behind the 7-11, but only one sperm can fertilize one egg at a time. Didn't you learn anything in sex ed?

Well, being that we're just now starting to shake the EVERYTHING '80S trend, the next one to hit will be a Grunge revival. So, Hot Topic will start selling faux-broken-in flannel shirts without buttons so you can wear your favorite band t-shirt under it (probably Foster the People) and jeans with premade holes in them, and long sleeve shirts only made to tie around your waist.

Really though, every fashion trend until the mid-nineties was kids making due with what they had. That's when rehashing got a foothold in stores. Remember when bell bottoms came back? And then we were blessed with platform shoes and gigantic sunglasses.
