I guess you've figured out by now that I didn't, but it raises an interesting question that's never occurred to me before now. Was IV meant as a sort of apology for the glorification of that cetacean-hating Melville in II? Alternately, wasn't Khan essentially creating a self-fulfilling analogy of Kirk to a whale? Was IV meant to distract viewers from Shatner's expanding waistline by contrasting him with actual whales?
