For those who have too much time on their hands, you can always just go read the plots (new window) as revealed through the games (although Infinity doesn't make much sense unless you're playing it...)

Last time I saw Durandal being downloaded, we couldn't use the runway for a week.

I'd love to play through this all again. I barely made it through the first time (maybe cheating only a little bit), and I don't think my skills can handle the difficulty anymore. Where is the regenerating health and chest high walls?

It is still the best storyline in a shooter I have seen to date. I really wish/hope that bungie, now free from the yoke of MS, will someday revisit and update these games into a true current-generation edition.

Durandal was my favorite character, and I still use that name as a call-sign in many games as homage.

This was the first FPS I played that made good use of stereo sound effects.

Combine that with silent/stealthy (until they moved) Pfhor, and you had some nice scares.

I went through a door, a Pfhor woke up and made that noise, and I looked to my right. Not at the monitor, but over my right shoulder. Like it was in the room, near the bookcase.

Fun game.

oh yeah, same thing happened but with the Hunter's 'awake' sound. I jumped in my seat while simultaneously trying to get my character into some cover because health was really really low.

The hunter sound scared the hell out of me when I first heard it in Marathon. Pity they didn't keep the effect in 2/Infinity.

It's been out for years and there's no way I'm going through 200 instances of marathon in a headline, so go you subby
