Fewer Subarus driving slowly in the left lane...I'm OK with this.

Good thing I didn't wait for the 2012 models when I bought my car then.

"Some customers said the brakes didn't feel right," Subaru of America spokesman Michael McHale said. "The pedal travels farther than it should. There were no failure issues, no accidents."

Good for them, since other companies might have waited until several accidents before doing anything about it.

Sounds like they decided to not let the value of A to be too high, to keep the value of X from becoming astronomical.

They should recall them for the cheap ass pistons they inflict upon the turbo engines. Why hello ring lands, would you like to visit the exhaust port? BUT OF COURSE!

Which car company do you work for?

Eh it sounds like the brakes worked fine, but the pedal feel was off. Btw toyota actually owns a stake in subaru, hence the upcoming toyota/subaru FT-86. The 2012 impreza hatchback, looks pretty nice. If my 12+ year old car dies (I drive them into the ground) I'd consider one.

So what will be the new lesbian car of choice if the Outback gets pulled?

Sorry but what is the problem here? Does anyone really trust these "smart" braking systems. When I get a car I simply cut holes in the floorboard and from then on use my feet to stop. Always reliable and it keeps them warm in cold weather. Also does not contaminate the environment with asbestos. A sudden stop from 65mph also gets rid of any athletes foot or toenail fungus. What could be better and more environmentally friendly?

A major one.

Heh. I'm in the middle of looking for a new car, and the Subarus are at the top of the list.

This'll make the test drives fun.

"So... has this had the master brake cylinder work done?" *stomp onbrake at 70mph*

That explains them ditching the all wheel drive on the FT-86.

Actually engine placement did that. Rear drive only means they were able to move the engine farther back in the car, which means better weight distribution. Also: Want, but needs some forced induction.

Not a problem with my Forester XT....

Being a long-time forced-induction Subaru guy, I'm actually looking forward to this 2.0 liter N/A version. Bore and stroke are square from the specs I've seen, so this thing should be able to rev to the moon. That sounds fun.

But the torque curve sucks ass. You have to rev it to the moon just to get it to go anywere.

That's OK. I'll keep my modified WRX if I really want torque. Don't get me wrong, I love having a fast car I can flog in any weather, but rev-happy engines have always been more fun for me. Had a N/A RX-7 and an S2K, and they weren't as fast as the WRX, but they were a bit more fun to drive.

Still loving my 2009 Impreza hatchback 2.5i after 60k miles. Was interested in getting one of the 2012 Outbacks for the wife, but held off since this year is a bigger "redesign" year (new engine specs and other stuff). Although this sounds like a minor issue, I think we'll probably wait until the year-end deals come around for these.

Actually no, I had a 99RS that I put an STI V RA motor in. And spent way too much money on. The next owner blew that up... I was looking for a new car last year and kept hearing bad stories about the 2007 and newer engine internals.

...wish I could buy my old RS back though.

Try the 3.6 liter flat six in the outback. Sweet and smooth.

I don't get it. I have an '04 WRX and it brakes just fine. How do you fark it up 8 years later? Forget how to design braking systems?

OtherBrotherDarryl: Fewer Subarus driving slowly in the left lane...I'm OK with this.

Guarantee you that won't be me driving slowly, in any lane.

Give me the power to weight ratio of a bike and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I hope they don't discontinue the WRX/STI for this BRZ crap before I'm able to buy my wife her STI.

^^THIS^^ Is the reason I bought an EVO instead of an STi. Brake feel is cheap and easy to fix (brake fluid and steel braided lines) but piston rings are harder and more expensive.

I've been thinking about buying an Impreza whenever my Saturn gives up the ghost, but the weak engine in the 2.0 has me thinking about other options. Taking 9.8 seconds to hit 60MPH is terrible.

I doubt they'd ever pull the WRX/STI. The BRZ is a totally different animal. It's not even AWD.
