The particle that's burning has gravity too. It's just a matter of scale.

That was underwelming. Damn scientist and their "controlled experiments." Give it to the Mythbusters and lets see some real fireworks.

TFA said: "Thus far, the most surprising thing we've observed is continued apparent burning of heptane droplets after flame extinction under certain conditions," Williams said. "Currently, this is entirely unexplained."

Well, we need to see how fire acts in space. So lets build a scale model of a match burning in an air pump vacuum and then we'll randomly blow something up with c4! Myth confirmed!

Dammit, if you are going to break that one out at least use the entire quote:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

"Methane continues to burn even after all flames have been extinguished." And heptane too, that minx.

I can't figure out if this is bad narration, a bad description, or they haven't head of the idea of "hot coals".

Will you accuse the submitter of being involved in the destruction of the World Trade Center, as is consistent with your irrational behaviour of assuming a substantial conspiracy in the event?

I think you need to watch a few more horror/sci-fi flicks so you can get the headline, R-Tard.

It's a Lovecraft story on a spaceship, a heavy-metal cynical examination of Lem. It stars Cowboy Curtis and the dinosaur guy no-one remembers the name of from Jurassic Park because he didn't get any good lines. It's absolutely terrifying. This movie deserves much more nerd love than it gets.

Stupid NASA. Just throw a force field around the fire it will consume all the oxygen contained in the field and then go out.

Unless of course the plot requires a fire. Then fark it. Open a door/window and hold on really tight. . .

So why are we mixing Event Horizon quotes with Blade Runner quotes?

Well, that's a cool experiment, but not really unexpected for any diffusion-controlled reaction in that geometry. Man, I'm getting reaction engineering homework flashbacks here.

See, thing is, the *PROPER* way to do it would have been to drop the headline into the quote, like this:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Fire in zero gravity. It's beautiful, It's like liquid it... slides all over everything. Comes up in waves. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
