I hate this image because it means nothing. If I put a picture of Noam Chomsky on the left and put it up there with the same captions, I bet a lot of people wouldn't know who he was either. That doesn't mean those people are what is wrong with the world, just they have no idea who the father of modern linguistics is.

What does it mean if you don't know who either of them are?

If you think an image macro featuring two people with bad hair explains anything, you are what is wrong with the world.

Coming from someone who once knew a thing or two about their search logs, these "most searched" lists are utter and complete bullshiat. Inevitably, the most common search terms, by a wide margin, were things like:

google
facebook
yahoo - yes, morons would search for yahoo from yahoo's own home page...
sex

And, in times past, sites like myspace, friendster etc.

Basically, think of the most popular sites on the web in any given year and those were your top search terms (apple, not being a popular site in itself, was never near the top).

Of course, it's not really prudent to promote your competitors (or porn) in your "Best of 20XX" list so they heavily filter it with the intent of reminding people to visit yahoo properties like news and entertainment (which is also why google never prints this kind of fluff).
