Perhaps Childs Play can run a special mini-drive to replace the stolen gifts. Gamers have the biggest hearts in the world when it comes to helping kids since I think we're mostly kids at heart =)

There is a special place in the jaws of Lucifer in the 9th level of Hell for those foolish enough to do this.

I came in here to say almost exactly THIS. However, this hospital is not currently affiliated with Child's Play.

Really not sure why people do this, even if they have hearts of stone. There are faster ways to make a buck, easier ways to get toys and the police would have reason to work on a case like this for the PR.

That's farked up...I don't know why but I feel guilty all winter long if I don't donate enough food, clothes, jackets, toys, yadda yadda yadda...I couldn't imagine stealing stuff, even if my family needed it. And whomever took this didn't need $20k worth of toys.

What do you even do with $20,000 of stolen toys? Put them in a warehouse and swim through them like some sad, tiny-dicked Scrooge McDuck?

There should be a special place in hell for jerks that do this kind of thing - along with one for pedophiles, animal abusers, etc. and lawers to!

SOMEBODY IS IN NEED OF A SWIFT KICK IN THE BALLS.

/certain people, because of their utter dickery, you actually want to resist arrest. This is one of them.

When they catch the guy the only decision to be made would be to either put him into a woodchipper, a trash compactor, or an industrial clothes dryer.

Take them to a flea market.

Do you notice that this seems to happen EVERY year? It is a great PR scam....there were no toys to begin with. Now with this false publicity the hospital will get an obscene amount of donations! What suckers! Now I will return the gifts I bought that were to be donated!

While I won't get THAT cyncial (yet), the story is very suspicious and you could be right in that this is really just a very scummy way to collect actual toy donations. "See this empty storage room? It should be filled with toys. . . Uh, I mean it WAS, but they were all stolen! Now we're desperate, really!"

First off, due to liability from kidnappings, childrens' hospitals tend to have the highest security of any medical facility. Sure you hear the horror stories because the media will make a spectacle of anything, but when I worked at a medical campus it was the childrens' hospital that had video surveillance, 24/7 live surveillance and the only place I had my ID closely inspected. OK the storage room was in the parking garage but I'd still be surprised if there wasn't video footage. It's frankly a lot easier to sneak into ER and steal a single machine worth far more than $20k.

Second, $20k worth of toys is a heck of a heist. Even if these were all PS3s we're talking way more than can be fit onto a single cart. You'd have to literally back a truck into the room entrance.

Finally, these are toys for fark's sake. If they really were stolen yeah that sucks, but honestly if a kid's recovery is hinging on getting a stuffed animal you've really farked up their upbringing. When I was sick as a kid, the one thing I didn't want was to be alone.

I admit that this is a horrible story but I had the same suspicions as you. I was like "An empty storage locker available to the public? Umm..."

And 20k worth of toys is a lot of farking toys. IF this happened (and I may very well have!), then it wasn't just one asshole who dropped by and filled the trunk of his car.

I work at a hospital, you'd be surprised at some of the downright dumb management decisions made. My theory is that they're so focused on patients they just gloss over anything else.

Remember, the British kept their Nukes behind a bike lock and relied on "gentleman's honor" system. Stupidity knows no bounds.
