...except it's cardboard instead of wood.

I thought it would be more mechanized, with conveyor belts and robot arms and automated shrink wrap machines.

I saw a documentary about where the US Army rebuilds armored vehicles and all their parts distribution is robotic, why the hell isn't Amazon doing stuff like that?

As a matter of fact, I have wondered what an Amazon warehouse looks like. Nice find, subby.

/ Love the term "fulfillment center."

Bigots.

Search "homosexuality" on amazon.com and check out the first search result.

Bigots.

If Amazon operates like some of the other shipping warehouses I've seen, it's also incredibly high pressure. You have to maintain a certain number of packages/hour and if you're running low, they will let you know immediately.

I thought it was obvious that they put the Ark in Warehouse 13

It looks pretty old school. At the very least, I thought the stock pickers would be wearing skates and pushing shopping carts.

Certainly better lit than the Raiders warehouse....

I'd be wary of the "used from $0.07" entries.

I wondered how the magic happens when I buy a pack of smoked meat and a SSD.

But it also makes sense that my Transformers BluRay smelled like smoked meat...now I know why.

Are you claiming amazon are bigots because that book comes up first, or because they carry it at all? Because the former I believe is driven by search requests, and the latter is the result of free speech. They carry Mein Kampf--a Kindle version no less--and all of Bill O'Reilly's books too. So what?

My feet and legs hurt just thinking about working there.

das: Because Uncle Sam isn't picking up the tab.

It's a lot cheaper to have an army of pimply faced teens working part-time under a "this many items every 5 minutes or you're fired" scheme than to buy robots and train robot maintainers, and have to give the robot maintainers benefits, and negotiate with the robot maintainer union, etc.

They don't wanna hire any forklift drivers?
No use of verticle storage there.
