Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habit of working f*cking jobs available that don't equate to slave labor, or schools that prepare them for good ones. Shut up and eat your pizza vegetables, kids.

Fight against minimum wage
Fight against welfare, food stamps, and housing projects
Fight against teaching science, paying teachers, and subsidized education
Fight against access to birth control, legal abortions, and sex education

Complain that there are too many poor people who aren't working

If Newt doesn't think selling drugs is hard work, he's completely out of touch with reality.

You'd think he would've learned how difficult it was from The Wire.

Oh come the fark on. That's impossible to figure out without mousing over, any of them could have actually said that. This isn't fair.

Really poor children in poor neighborhoods often don't have role models readily available because their parents are constantly working or work nonstandard hours. Services jobs and retail suck for parents, but parents in poverty will take what's available.

But, this is GOP land we're talking about, where people only have 9-5 jobs, even the so called 'real American'.

I wonder how it feels to be that delusional?

2011-12-02 12:42:25 AM
most kids don't have work ethic because they are f*cking kids. the really funny thing is his prescription to the problem where he says that he'd make poor children clean bathrooms after school so they can learn how to do menial labor for money.

2011-12-02 12:46:03 AM
it is interesting though, because there are studies out there that show that you really need to socialize and give structure to kids as early as possible if you want higher success in adulthood. that said, most people walk away from those studies saying that more funding should be given to pre-schools, not child labor camps.

2011-12-02 01:02:23 AM
Gee whiz, Newt. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were spewing all this self-sabotaging nonsense in order to bolster support for another candidate from your party, making that person's crazy-talk seem suddenly not-as-crazy.

Yep. There was a thread back in November about this (new window).

And there's the inherent dickishness that we all know and love rising from Newt. Totally Presidential material, ready to unite the country after their long national nightmare.

Good luck with that kids, because if THAT is what we send out to the national elections after the Primary, not only will we lose this election, but you can bet the brand will be tarnished enough after that we will create life long Democratic voters.

2011-12-02 01:46:42 AM
Well, Newt, then I guess they won't be doing a very good job when they take over cleaning up the schools they go to. Maybe the school system will still need that vastly over-paid union janitor you were complaining about.

Don't you have another wife to cheat on?

You say that like there's a part of the brand that is as yet untarnished.

He went on to say, "Really wealthy children in really wealthy neighborhoods have no habit of working, either, but the hired help are working nearby so those kids should turn out ok."

Weaver95: this is what the GOP thinks can win the white house away from Obama?

They've been whispering increasingly insane nonsense to themselves for so long they can't tell if the voices are coming from inside or outside their heads at this point.

My guess is they lost track of everyone else in a bid to out-extreme the other.

Isn't this already written into the bylaws of the Social Darwinist party?

Yes, but have you seen the child labor camps? Some of them are really nice.

Is it too much to ask that Newt's motorcade gets lost and breaks down in a ghetto on a Friday night at the same time all their cell phone batteries die?

That gelatinous pantload is probably still patting himself on the back for sitting that close to Cain. "It was a little scary, but I was right next to one for 2 whole hours."

2011-12-02 04:22:51 AM
The GOP has long ago surrendered to a second Obama term. This is the strategy for making the 2016 candidate look relatively sane.

2011-12-02 04:23:40 AM
So tell us, Newt, about all the hard work you did while growing up as an Army brat, and those years you spent in France touring WWI historical sites? My heart bleeds at the blisters you must have worn on your feet.

I think that he did it on purpose because he was afraid of his rising poll numbers and he really doesn't want to be president.

He just likes the attention.

Congratulations. That was actually the point Gingrich was building to. Had anyone bothered to take his remarks in context, they might have figured it out.

elections are bitterly unfair, just like the world, and if you cant hack it you probably shouldn't be president.

Weaver95: this is what the GOP thinks can win the white house away from Obama?

I'm still constantly amazed that their entire party platform boils down to screwing over the poor for the benefit of the rich, without even really making an effort to even hide this anymore, and they're still going to get around 50% of the vote.

2011-12-02 04:30:06 AM

I think they're just working up their own sociopaths so that they show up and vote, spread a lot of 'both sides are bad, don't vote' BS, and use active voter suppression in the cities. They're trying to make it so the number of sane people that are both motivated and allowed to vote is low.

Party Boy: I mean, seriously. Newt Gingrich? Does anyone remember the 1990's for farks sake?

Teabaggers don't talk about the 90s, especially the early 90s. The end of Communist Russia, The popularity of Bill Clinton, Glenn Beck's (alleged) rape and murder of a pre-teen girl, and the C&C Music Factory still strike a raw nerve with them.

Man, Newt just -loves- the idea of child labour. I think someone needs to explain to him that he's the only one and should probably keep his gob shut on it.
