I'm sure they are. I have no experience with the iPhone, but by Android auto-corrects some real strange stuff if you're off by a letter. China and vagina is an obvious one, since its easy to miss the "c" and hit the "v" next to it.

But the secret of DYAC is that no one's phone would write "vagina" instead of "china" unless you routinely use "vagina" elsewhere on the phone so that it's expected. The algorithm studies behavior in addition to key proximity. The phone's "mistakes" reveal more about the user's habits than they'd care to admit. "Damn you" indeed.

And who would routinely text the word vagina instead of one of the shorter, less technical terms for it? No one, that's who. Unless they were a gynecologist texting other gynecologists about work.

Exactly. Like Mr. Manboobs Monday. He's obviously typed the words manboobs (pretty sure it would take typing that a lot before the iPhone remembered it) a hell of a lot more than Monday, or he just wrote it in there to be funny. It took my iphone 3 months to learn 'sh*t' and it still changes it to 'shut' every now and then.

A friend's iPhone changed a perfectly innocent word to "cunnilingus." I don't remember what the word was SUPPOSED to be, but I cracked up thinking about how Eric had obviously typed "cunnilingus" at least once on his phone.

Many times--in fact, almost every time--when someone posts some link that's supposed to be funny, people will be all, "ROFLMFAO" and, at most, I'll be like that one Seinfeld girlfriend who merely states, "that's funny."

But holy shiat, I was laughing at every one of these.

I'm sure he's used "manboobs" before. But, just like unexpected pregnancy, autocorrect failure only takes one time.

And btw, I tried typing the original word on MY phone, and it didn't autocorrect to cunnilingus, which is how I knew he'd typed it before.

I used to frequent their site years ago, when it was pophangover.com and those chicks just aren't funny enough for these to be fake, unless they've hired some writers.

Jill used to write the most mundane reviews of the Real World thinking they were hilarious and they were terrible, not even slightly amusing.

There was a community in their forum but it blew up after some racist posts by Michelle's boyfriend.

I tried to turn it off but it turns off the spell check also. I can't figure out how to just turn off the autocorrect and keep the spell check. I am a bad speller in generel and rather like the spellcheck feater.

My aunt insists on communicating via text, and I hate it. When she texts me, I remind her that I prefer a proper phone call. She responds with a text.

nekom: There's no way some of those are real. Funny, but not real. Perhaps some are real.

It's possible they're real, but I'll admit that in that sort of quantity there's going to be some fakes. The iPhone autocorrect system learns new words from you, so it's entirely likely that most of these could have happened. It also makes some of them far, far more embarassing when you realize that there's no way the phone would have known that word unless the owner typed it in before.

Out of the box, the iPhone is notorious for being a bit vanilla. I sent more than a few "duck you" and "this ducking guy in front of me won't shut up" messages before i managed to retrain it.

Not as a phone and not for texting, but I have. I get that it tries to `learn' and autocorrect does stupid things sometimes, and some of these may well be real. I just doubt that they all are. I can tell by the pixels, etc.
