Maybe the next QB in line for the meat-grinder in Houston this year?

2011-12-01 02:19:24 PM
The Vikings had a hell of a lot more problem wise then an average to sometimes bad quarterback.

2011-12-01 02:56:45 PM
Does Washington solely exist to pay lazy-ass people copious amounts of money then release them from any responsibility?

The Omaha Nighthawks are looking for a QB.

2011-12-01 03:36:00 PM
The Colts should be forced to claim him.

verbaltoxin: The Omaha Nighthawks are looking for a QB.

Does the UFL actually still exist? Or are they merely going through the motions and pretending they'll have a 2012 season?

Poor Donnie. Maybe he should just stop.

Man, you have to REALLY suck for the Minnesota Vikings to not want you on their team. :-(

Have those responsible for the sacking the first QB been sacked?

Texans, Bears, Colts call him up?

Man, as an Eagles fan it really hurts watching him get shiat on after cheering him on so long. Hope he finds a way to have one or two more good years somewhere but it is not looking likely.

What are they going to do with all the Campbell's Chunky Soup?

Captain Steroid: Man, you have to REALLY suck for the Minnesota Vikings to not want you on their team. :-(

The Vikings are done for the year. Why spend 1.6M on a guy who won't be around next year and won't play the rest of the year? Let him go suck someplace else. It's obvious that he's got some sort of mental block right now where he can't throw the ball downfield. Just dump the ball off underneath for 4 yards, bring up 4th down and let the second best player for the vikings come on the field to kick it away. Frankly, It's time to promote Jared Allen to quarterback and let him play ironman style.

No kidding. I believe he asked to be released and the Vikings were like "Seriously? Yeah, sure!"

FB friend of mine who's a Cardinals fan is screaming for AZ to pick him up.

I haven't been following them that much this year, but surely Kolb can't suck that bad that McNabb is a viable other option

Kolb has been out for a while now. I think he's just getting in workouts this week. I believe it was turf toe, but I don't follow the Cardinals so I'm not sure exactly what it was.

Because there is no guarantee anyone will actually claim him off waivers. This is the 3rd team in 2.5 years that's kicked him to the curb. The Vikings could still be stuck with his contract.

They are basically saying ...eh, he's not even worth it if we have to pay him 1.6 Million. He's not even worth it as an emergency backup. We'd rather bring someone else in who has not seen our playbook than keep McNabb.

He's no Kyle Orton.

Kolb has been pretty bad.

/Hilarity ensues if McNabb leapfrogs Kolb, though
//Kolb: "Dammit, McOrton!"

well...bye

It was a fine thought bringing him in to bridge the gap to Ponder, but every ball in the turf was a another nail in his coffin. I'm not sure what the stats currently say, but the offense seems to run better under the rookie, and that is without any prep for Ponder (McNabb had all of the first team snaps in practice until he was benched).

I'm sure somebody can use a bounce-pass specialist.

Maybe run that neo-veer with him, if he has anything left in his old old legs.

Well this is pointless.

Di Atribe: Poor Donnie. Maybe he should just stop.

Yeah, and it's kind of a shame. I hope he gets himself back on track, but it's hard to think that there's any chance of that happening. I'd still like to see him on Houston, where he'd have a great running game and a great WR, just to see if he'd pull out of a funk. The real shame of it is that he only ever played one season with a quality WR and he took that team to the Super Bowl.

KyngNothing: Maybe the next QB in line for the meat-grinder in Houston this year?

No he won't. They already have some Yates guy, Sanchez's old backup, and The Man. The Myth. The Legend.TM Jake Delhomme.

Dallas is likely in this bidding as well. Kitnas back is crap. Jerry is famous for big waiver/FA silliness. I could see Donovan here in Dallas.

I don't think so. McGee is a serviceable backup.

I expected no better then 6-10 and expected a 4-12 season. So far, I'm pretty much on pace. Except for the whole "I had us beating Denver and the Raiders" thing.

I am only still crying about the 2009 NFC Championship game. And the 99 NFC championship game.

Because I hate the farking NFC South at this point. And Dennis Green. And Brad "12 men on the field" Childress. AND THOSE GOD DAMN REFS IN OT. AND GARY MOTHER farkING ANDERSON.

...

I need to stop typing now.

And after a disappointing first half, the Dream Team has its final nail in the coffin down 21-10 with no life from its offense. And here comes the Eagles out of the tunnel, lead by Riley Cooper? Where's Vince Young? Vince Young is not on the sideline. Early reports indicate that he was beaten in the locker room by an irate fan in a Santa costume backstage.

Wait a second, is that the Campbell's Chunky Soup jingle?

BAH GAWD THAT'S DONOVAN MCNABB'S MUSIC

/say what you will, but he would almost always get them to the playoffs
//he would have a shot if he went to the Bears and got the hometown pop; he's never really been in a situation to build off of consistent cheers

I was just reading this thread in my office about a half hour ago. I shut off my computer, went downstairs, and who was just walking out of the satellite uplink studio that we have on the main floor? Donovan McNabb! I wished him luck and told him I hoped he'd land someplace the defense wasn't old and porous and there were some people around that might actually catch the ball once in a while. He said "We'll see how it works out." I was surprised and how not-big he was. Figured he'd be taller.

/Hate the Vikings, with or without him
//Didn't mention that part

muck4doo: Just retire. You're done.

Why? The guy just turned 35. He could make 2-3 mill a year as a backup QB on a contending team for another 5 years. Look at Mark Brunell. Look at Kerry Collins. There are way too many terrible QB's in the league for him to walk away from that kind of payday.

The question is if he'd want to do that. After this last go around, he should recognize he's not a franchise QB anymore. That's hard for really good career QB's to accept. But his legacy is secured at this point as a borderline HoF guy (who won't get in) that did great things in Philly.

McNabb will probably sign with someone for the vet minimum after passing waivers. He'll still be able to claim for the full salary anyway, but the Vikings will get a reprieve of that vet minimum amount. It makes some sense for the Vikings, mostly in freeing up a roster spot. Ponder is the future and they aren't going to win this year anyway with or without McNabb.

Actually, that is a pretty cool story.

======================================================

Only 1 decent wide receiver, who's still inconsistent and plagued with migraines. Their OL sucks dick and their defense is terrible.

Just like last year.

Even a great quarterback (Oh, like, Favre) would not be able to solve it. Its amazing how downhill they went from 2 years ago to last year.

Most QBs that win as much as McNabb did have at least one WR for a few years during their tenure. And now it is obvious, Reid's success is due entirely to McNabb, Jim Johnson, and Ray Rhodes (for the talent on defense). Reid himself is a terrible head coach.
