Since the article didn't specify, I'm gonna go ahead and imagine that the pizza guy was armed with this Chiappa Rhino:

No argument from me.

What's up with the "Approximately 20 years old"? Was the robber wearing a tag that said happy 20th birthday to me?

And that looks like the bottom chamber fires, I assume to reduce recoil. That's pretty slick.

is it continuing yesterday's theme because he missed? seriously learn some gun control folks.

slight threadjack.
mythbusters "how to hold a gun" show didn't mention that some of those low score tries had a lot of head shots. i'll take a good head shot over a center mass any day.

Ugh if I was delivering pizza in this day and age I don't think the gun would be left in the car ever.

FTGDMFA: As Waide turned around with the gun in his hand, the other man fled. Waide fired two shots at the man..."He was being robbed and was protecting himself. In the state of Kansas, that's not a crime."

QFT. I can't count the number of times I have had to protect myself from a dangerous person who was RUNNING AWAY FROM ME by killing his rapidly fleeing ass.

To all pro-choicers in Kansas: that fetus was stealing your precious, American-backbone-strengthening calcium! You had to defend yourself!

Nah, I understand. I'm surprised at how many people have a problem with the release or it's size (non-compact). I've never had that problem, the second I shot the original USP I was hooked.

I have the same problem with compact and sub-compact Glocks, I shoot and the magazine falls out.

/most of my ex girlfriends didn't like it strictly because it was in .45 and they were just too small.

Special Delivery, baby! It's called a COP 357 and fires both .357 and .38 bullets. Truth be told, reviews say it's too heavy and there's too much trigger pull to take advantage of the rapid fire. I still want to try one out someday.

Only in this day and age.

I do like that the PPS took it and extended the release the whole way. Not only do you get used to it, it's better than a standard pushbutton - when in holster, can't accidentally release magazine, can release without adjusting grip, etc.

It's OK to shoot at someone running away from you? How is that not endangering the lives of bystanders?

Yep, I've heard the 2" version in particular is supposed to have very controllable recoil for a snubbie.

Defendant: "It was self defense, your honor."
Judge: "You shot him in the back. Twice. At 75 yards."

Just joking, mostly.

While the Charles Bronson in me says "Kill the punk", I think once someone flees, maybe firing isn't the go-to option. But I wasn't there, and if in the same situation, I might do the same. Dunno.

Actually the article doesn't specify that he turned around then the robber fled then he fired 2 shots. Could have been something where he turned around, fired two shots which caused the dude to run away.

A worthless design. I mean, a high bore axis isn't great, but... damn, did they go overboard to avoid it. That and zeroing the sites will be a major PITA. The only thing worse would be if it was a top break.

Eh, I love my USP tactical, magazine release and all. I haven't shot it that much though, so I guess I could always change my mind. From what I have shot it though I can say they do make a damn good gun.

I carry a USP myself, although in hindsight its a little large for a carry weapon.. should have gotten some type of compact.

I kind of want a USP tac compact to complete the "set" so to speak. I will probably get one if I ever decide to start carrying because you are right about the size.

/at least it is smaller than my DE

I do not work for a franchisee of a national pizza chain. If I did, I certainly wouldn't carry a gun. Even if I considered doing so, I wouldn't do it even if I was never given an employee handbook or informed about any relevant policy.

AnthraxRipple: I do not work for a franchisee of a national pizza chain. If I did, I certainly wouldn't carry a gun. Even if I considered doing so, I wouldn't do it even if I was never given an employee handbook or informed about any relevant policy.

Guessing of course, but nowadays more and more people are being forced to take jobs they never would have considered before to avoid sleeping on the sidewalk. Could very well have been a case like that where the guy needed the money, but felt pretty unsafe going to some of the areas the job required. I've known some people doing pizza down in LA that packed - and out of 3 (that I know of) 2 had to pull theirs to get someone with a knife or gun to screw off. The 3rd shot and killed a crazy dude that ran up on him out of nowhere and just started trying to take his head off with a piece of rebar.

So... yeah - ya never know. Sometimes you need the money bad enough to think risking your life is doable (usually when you're younger heh.) If it's bad enough, some insurance against getting murdered vs. maybe if you do you'll lose your job - yeah I'd go with the insurance too.

+ Only one of the 3 was legally carrying, none of them were hassled about it during or after these incidents. LAPD and the county sheriffs know why they had them, and unless the pizza guys did some dumbarse shiat they were willing to officially not see the gun.

++ Using LA more as in the county - the shooting was down in Long Beach in one of their scary-ass parts. Other 2 incidents were actually in and around the city itself. Mostly down in the bad (worse?) parts of Boyle Heights.
