You know who else thought Germany would win WWII?

Fark, you're fallin' behind. I was forwarding this to my coworkers at a company that went out of business in Jan '09...

Germany did have the better first half of the season for sure.

2011-12-01 02:49:34 PM
Bullshiat. Germany couldn't bring the long bomb to their game against Hawaii

2011-12-01 02:49:50 PM
Now, how could we equate the ridiculousness that is the bowl games?

Germany defeats Poland in the Consonant Bowl?
Germany defeats France in the Surrender Bowl?

Apparently, Britain was not involved in WWII. Well done, Hollywood education!

Well, would you like to know what you'd be without us, the good ol' U.S. of A. to protect you? I'll tell you. The smallest farking province in the Russian Empire, that's what! So don't call me stupid. Just thank me.

Yeah but Hitler won't win the Heismann. He was looking good earlier in the season but he really tailed off there at the end.

Russia got its ass kicked in the beginning of the season then staged a lot of late-season victories.

The US beat: N. Africa, Italy, Germany, Japan, and tied with Russia in the Championship.

Idaho sure did play a big role. The nuke research done at Arco helped pave the glass parking lot in downtown Hiroshima

hey man it was only a rebuilding season, they got wiped out after the first season...

Well, at least #3 Japan travels well. They can play #4 United States in the Hawaii Bowl. Should be an explosive matchup.

More like the US beat Russia in quintuple overtime.

Doesn't say they didn't fight. They just didn't get ranked. Maybe they gave up too many points, maybe their schedule included too many little sister schools. Maybe they just didn't get any respect in the polling.

Patton takes the Heismann.....Rommel was looking good for it but then killed himself in the 4th quarter of their last game...........

2011-12-01 03:16:08 PM
But in all fairness Germany, really did struggle against in conference Yugoslavia, needed extra time to put down those scrappy underdogs. As a result they came in late against USSR and it was all downhill from there.

And relevant to determining the national champion, right? If war were like the BCS, you'd have one relevant match-up to crown a mythical winner between two teams perceived to be the best and 34 meaningless exhibition matches just for the hell of it. Actually, that's kind off like real war. And would this analogy make weapons manufacturers the bowl organizers of WW2???

My 14 year-old son saw this and commented: "If they took into account the running game, France would have finished much higher than #6."

MacArthur helped himself when he engineered that come-from-behind win in the Philippines, and he won a hell of a lot of road games. That's gotta count for something.

Patton?? You're serious? He was stealing signals the whole time, he said so himself "Rommel... you magnificent bastard, I read your book!"

Can't give it to a cheater....

How about Georgy Zhukov, he took the turnover at Stalingrad and ran it back for the win all the way to Germany's house.

MacFumbles more like it. He was the main reason it was a come-from-behind win. The ground game won that more then anything else.

Also, Russia knew they couldn't beat Germany in Europe, so they forced the Germans into a road game at Stalingrad.

And if you think LSU is a tough place to play ....

I think the fact that he didn't start for most of the season hurts Zhukov's legitimacy.

Technically, N. Africa was a win against Germany at a neutral site, and Germany was the home team.

The entire game at Midway was won through the air.

What a bunch of crap! The Kraut's conference was weak as hell and their signature OOC win was freakin France! The US had to knock off Germany, Japan and Italy and they got 4th?

Thank FSM WWII had playoffs or we would have been denied that epic US vs Japan Championship Game. Their ground game was tough early but in the end their D couldn't protect againt the bomb.

Those were the days. The latter titles have been pretty boring. The US-USSR matchup was overhyped and turned out to be a massive defensive contest won by America on a late FG. Don't even get me started on the recent US-Iraq tilts. I know it was a down couple a years globally but putting the Arabian Champs up against the US(EC) two years in a row was just silly. Maybe this time we'll get a title game featuring teams from the same conference like we had in the 1860's.

I think that it was gutsy for Rommel to publish his playbook, but he did publish it. Patton just read it.

Zhukov is a good choice, but still would finish second because Patton was put on a leash to keep from running up the score.

I don't know. I know Nimitz was important to America's winning record but he just isn't the sexy pick. You are going to have a hard time selling that to the Heismann voters

If we are saying Patton get's points for being kept on a leash, then surely we no longer get to count Rommel losing the last part of the season due to being benched for injuries.
So now we are back to the Fox!
