Apple and the Taliban are all about making their products easy to use...

So they could trigger an IED using a slightly modified smartstart app/reciever, than use urban spoon to find a good falafel place to celebrate.

Technology should scare you too.

Who the hell leaves their iPhone to charge overnight? Surely this is not good for the battery?

Lord Summerisle: Who the hell leaves their iPhone to charge overnight? Surely this is not good for the battery?

Use it all day = Dead battery. Plug in before sleep, sleep, wake up, unplug, repeat. Any halfway decent driver will stop grabbing power once it's fully charged.

/Also, if you intend to use your phone as an alarm clock and not wake up to a drained battery, you pretty much HAVE to leave it plugged in all night.

"However, rumours that Apple is considering hiring the Progeny to do its next marketing video can be safely ruled out."

Apple has not admitted any fault in the design but they are giving all iPhone 4S customers a a discount coupon for their new "water jacket" case.

Considering all the news about that CIQ stuff, I wonder if these guys are giving away data and intelligence directly to the U.S. government.

Venting with flame is a well known condition of cheap or poorly charged lithium Ion batteries.

Same thing as the dell laptops that started exploding a few years ago.

Does anyone remember 12 years ago when the Taliban were an ally that the US funded with weapons and money before they shifted gears and started arming and funding their adversaries instead?

/me neither

If only it were just Dells. Those Sony (for it was they who made em) packs turned up in every-farking-thing, Dell, HP, Apple, smartphones, camcorders.... and yeah Sony laptops. A lot of 'no brand' 2nd/3rd tier OEM's used them as well.

It's why I asked in the thread about an iPhone 4 going up in smoke about who supplies the battery packs... because it was so much fun the first time I really want to be a million miles away if it smells like happening again.

Not quite as much fun as badcaps though, that was just hilarious... GRRRR.

FTFA: The tame Apple press insists that the cause of the combustion remains speculative as it could not be cruddy design because it came from Jobs' Mob which only makes perfect designs.

Looks like somebody's bitter because nobody bought him an iPhone.
