Luckily I don't have any friends that would abuse this, as I use the "defriend" and "block" functions on anyone that doesn't know how to use Facebook like an adult.

Now if we could just get Twitter to update their post limit to the length of a text message

For that, you may have to buy a few vowels from Vanna White.

What a weird reference.

This is a response to Google+, which many people use as their blogging platform.

Status update: I woke up and then I let out a big fart to announce to the rest of the place that I was now awake. I then proceeded to go back to sleep, just after yelling for some a-hole to shut the fark up and quit clicking the keyboard too loud. the next time I woke up, I then commenced to thoroughly enjoy the hangover yet again, as I staggered to the shiatter to evacuate my innards.

From a link in TFA:

So where does the number 63,206 come from? Facebook engineer Bob Baldwin explains: "I set the exact limit to something nerdy. Facebook ... Face Boo K ... hex(FACE) - K ... 64206 - 1000 = 63206 :-)."

Not very nerdy there hotshot, K is 1024 in real nerd land. And randomly dropping Boo from it, especially when B is a valid hex value, just makes it silly and arbitrary, might as well have just done 2^16 and been done with it.

Yes? Is there a question? Facebook has a valid purpose in communicating with people. It is possible to use Facebook without sending everyone invites to Farmville and writing nothing but "repost this for undertipping awareness month" posts.

yes that's true, but it's hardly the only way to communicate with people. posting on facebook like anything other than a frat boy or sorority girl is essentially turning it into something else it's not intended to be.

People act like frat/sorority kids when talking, calling, texting, and emailing, too. Does that mean we shouldn't do that, either? Regardless of how it was intended, it is merely a tool to be used as you see fit. How other people use it does not affect my ability to use it how I want. It is a very efficient way to interact with groups of friends that live all over the country, especially seeing kids they just had or houses they just moved into, or hearing about jobs they just landed, or trips they've taken. I've enjoyed using it for the past 6 years, and imagine I will years into the future.

Like what 99.99999999% of what the internet is used for by, well, everyone?

Will they include a feature that automatically blocks people that use all the characters?
